I really think that all of this is going to come back to bite them in the butt ... For a while I think they were the best horse in the race ... now, there are other companies out there who are really offering better plans (IMO). Healthy Paws will cover two ACL's in one year ... Pet Plan won't. There premiums are very similar. I think at this point I could probably switch AB with no problems, Lucy I'm not sure what I would do. I predict they are going to lose a lot of business.
I just did a Healthy Paws quote and both dogs would be $97.15/month. I will see what PetPlan is going to charge me in October.
I have Healthy Paws and live in Michigan, I pay $23 a month for Annabelle, with $200 deductible and 80% reimbursement. Plus, the deductible is annually not per incident.
I just hope Healthy Paws won't be changing underwriters like Pet Plan.
I pay $37 per dog a month, with $250 deductible and 90% coverage. That's too bad Pet Plan did this move since they were one of the best insurance companies along with Healthy Paws.
I have also noticed that when you do a new quote for PetPlan there is no longer the 100% reimbursement option. That was one of the reasons I stayed with them with AB. Healthy Paws also didn't take the office visit charge into account when meet the deductible was another. Sometimes at a specialist that is $100. But their deductible I think is per year not per incident like pet plan.
That's correct. Healthy Paws deductible is per year, not per inicident. Plus, there are no yearly coverage limits. That's what made me decide to go with HP.
See for me, I am ok with the office visits, it is the major medical, that I wanted covered. Yes, it is per year, not per incident. That and the no coverage limits was why I went with HP. Right now the premium is affordable, if they change it like PP did, I won't be a happy camper.
That's true but they're not taking the 100% reimbursement away at renewal if you had it originally. My August renewal for Guinness is still at 100%.
As many of you know, I recently lost my beloved labradoodle Paz to lymphoma; Paz was covered by Trupanion insurance and they were absolutely wonderful..Paz received chemotherapy and radiation treatments for a six month period and Trupanion paid in excess of $20,000 in that period of time; Trupanion has no cap per illness or the lifetime of the policy.
I've decided to bring another labradoodle puppy into my life, and if all goes well, I will be bringing the puppy home in November. I've already contacted Trupanion as I want to insure the puppy through Trupanion; if I get the maximum benefits, it will cost me about $60 per month, which is well worth it given their incredible coverage and customer service.
I don't have pet insurance but have wondered if it is beneficial to have. I have a 10 month golden. sounds like a lot of you have insurance??
