Places that are "doodle" friendly ~ stores, restaurants, etc...... Let's make a list!

Recently I found out that there are places that you can take your doodle that I never would have expected.  Awhile back we were at Cabela's in West Virginia and they have a boarding/doggie daycare for customers that are shopping.  Just a few weeks ago we were out of town and going to Bass Pro Shops in Toledo, Ohio I really didn't want to leave Hunter in our camper while we were gone but I get nervous leaving her in the car that someone would steal her.  I called Bass Pro and asked if maybe they had the same kennel area like Cabela's and I was shocked that they allowed dogs to shop with you in the store.  WOW  it was a great shopping trip, I wasn't board out of my mind walking around with my husband looking at camping, hunting and whatever else.  I got to walk Hunter around :-)

 

All of this got me thinking there have to be many more stores and even restaurants that allow dogs to come in.  So how about we make a list of any local or national store, etc.  that allows to bring our doodles in.

Well, you could always get them a "doggie coat"...sew on a few Therapy Dog stickers and you
can take them anywhere!!!

The last message from me sounded a little rough.... my Doodle is going to be a Therapy dog...
What I meant was that anywhere they take them they make people happy and therefore
"give" good therapy to people cause everyone wants to pet them. And let's face it, just
looking at them is a treat for people!!!

Hi, Glad you clarified that- therapy dog certification is not to be taken lightly. My one year old Labradoodle just earned her AKC Canine Good Citizen and next I am going for therapy dog certification. Doodles are wonderful as you said both for the owner and those who have the pleasure to be around them!

I was with you on that. Zoe is going for her CGC as well, the end of May and her Therapy Certification. Dogs do bring such joy to poeple and its proven good things happen to you when you are loving on a dog. The smile on their faces is worth it all! In between times we are working on Rally and will begin agility soon too! Zoe seems to enjoy it, and I love it!

Two things: first I think you are confusing therapy dogs with service animals. A service dog CAN go anywhere by law. This is a dog who is specifically trained to help those with handicaps. Therapy dogs are NOT allowed everywhere...it depends on the venue and the management. My dog has been a working therapy dog for three years.
Secondly, i hope you were joking about "sewing on a few Therapy dog stickers"...it take training, and passing a strict test to become a nationally certified therapy dog. There are only two organizations that certify dogs.
Anyone who would "pretend" that their dog is a certified therapy dog is being dishonest and hurting the whole system.

Most of St. Augustine, FL is very Doodle friendly. Many stores have dog water bowls out and I've taken two
dogs at a time into many stores. Local restaurant: Scarlett's is probably the best. There's a porch with tables
and they've never had a problem with Doodles or other dogs. Local cafes seem fine too.
Also, most of Winter Park, FL is very Doodle friendly. Again, bowls out, many people walking their best friends. Even the Farmer's Market is loaded with man's best friend on Saturday mornings. Local restaurant, the BriarPatch has outside tables! Have had no problem in Lowe's. And yes, Starbuckshas been good! I think that's an individual basis. But, I've learned not to ask - it gives them the opportunity to say "No.", which is probably a health code rule. Found that to be true in the Keys too. Just grab an outdoor table and enjoy. But ask first, and frequently get a "No, can't".
AAA has a book of pet friendly hotels nationwide also.

Has anyone mentioned Orvis? They let you shop with your dog there; it is one of Mater's favorite places to buy toys. And they will always give him a treat too.
