Do you have $5.00 Bucks in your pocket?  I CHALLENGE YOU TO $5.00 BUCKS.  THAT'S ALL

I've been waiting here in Ohio to find out how I can help the animals effected by Hurricane Sandy.

If you have heard of any other good or reputable charities please feel free to add them here.  Let's all get together on this one. It is an Emergency. Let's Help

The following letter came from PETPLAN.  As stated in this letter, PetPlan will match dollar to dollar your donation if you are a member.

1)   I don't know if the Secure DONATION BUTTON link will work here in this discussion,  so I have added the link below just in case.

2) Lynne has added additional links. Please see below.  Several local area rescues in NJ have put a call out for HELP! .  Animals are coming in everyday.  Please see her links!

3) Adrianne Matzkin, has added a letter to this discussion with more addresses and numbers.  So many!  So many need our help.

Whether you've been a part of the Petplan family for six days or six years, you know that at Petplan, pets come first. Right now in the Northeast, in many of Petplan's neighboring communities, families are reeling from the devastation caused by Superstorm Sandy. As heartbreaking as it is to watch our neighbors struggle after losing their homes and possessions, it is equally as tragic to consider those four-legged family members who were injured, displaced or worse, as a result of the storm.

While it will likely be months before we know how many pets were affected by Sandy, animals rescued from harm's way are being cared for at emergency shelters in the area. In Port Washington, NY, more than 650 animals now fill the North Shore Animal League America's shelter - with another 100 animals temporarily housed aboard the group's Mobile Rescue Units. Their medical team is providing treatment and comfort to animals that need special care, and the group is working around the clock to find every pet a place to go home to.

As a longtime partner of the North Shore Animal League America, Petplan is committed to aiding in the mission of caring for the ani..., and is making a $5,000 donation to support those efforts.

Additionally, we pledge to match - dollar for dollar - every donation made by members of the Petplan family, up to an additional $5,000.

With your support and generosity, we can direct 15,000 much-needed dollars to helping pets in need.

Donate Now!

Please stand with us in giving hope and comfort to not only the helpless pets affected by the storm, but to the thousands of people - like you, and like us - for whom a soft nuzzle and a furry paw can be the best medicine to begin mending a broken heart.

All the very best,

Natasha Ashton

NJ Pet Families Displaced by Sandy - You DO NOT have to surrender your pet to a shelter. SEER FARMS MISSION: Hurricane Sandy has destroyed so many homes in New Jersey. Seer Farms is here to ensure that it does not destroy families as well.
We have been getting calls and emails from families with pets who cannot return to their homes. Or whose homes are no longer there to return to. They can get temporary placement for themselves through FEMA or family. But often the animals cannot be placed in those arrangements.

We are working with those families to help them keep their animals in their lives. We will place as many as we can within our current facilities and extend our foster network to accept the overflow. We will care for their animals while they rebuild, and return their beloved pets to them when they can again care for them.

Anyone in need can contact us through facebook (www.facebook.com/seerfarms), info@seerfarms.org, or call us at 732-928-1804.

Seer Farms, Inc. is a New Jersey-based non-profit that has a unique perspective on animals and their people, and how to keep them together as a family in difficult times. Seer Farms’ Out of Crisis program fills an important void in the animal care services offered in NJ by providing a safety net for...

Oh, brought tears to my eyes.  My Meggie is scared of crates and kennels and can only imagine what I would do if something happened.  Thank god for people opening their homes and helping!

Lynne, thank you for the links.  I have edited this discussion and its title.

No matter what link you choose--CHOOSE ONE or all of these!   Seriously folks, now is the time people start to forget and things fade from the news, but the problems are real.  The problems are still there.  But, they don't have to be.  Let's get them through this

Glad to help. It's pretty bad here in NJ. I am getting calls and emails every day to help but we are full, too. Thankfully, most of the shelters and local rescues all have power back. Two of our fosters just got power back today and mine was just restored yesterday. There are a lot of displaced people and animals. Seer Farms is taking pets into their kennels, as is Monmouth SPCA, without having to surrender them. That would be an additional heartbreak for people who have lost everything. Places in NY are worse. If I get more, I'll post them. Thanks for posting this, Jo.
