I am not part of any of the Doodle Kisses "Color" Groups, because my mom doesn't know where I might fit in. I am very sad about this. Today, my mom got an invitation to the "Cream" Doodles Group, but she is not sure because I am really supposed to be apricot. I have dark reddish colored fur on my back. But my face and ears are very light colored, and in bright light they look almost platinum blonde, so maybe I don't belong in the "Apricot" group, either. I would really like to know where I belong. Can you look at my photos on mom's page and tell me what you think?

Thank you very much.

I think Yankee is in the same boat, isn't he? Top of his head is cream, ears reddish, back is apricot!!!

That does it! I'm starting a Blonde Doodles Group!
LOL I love it!
LOL!!!!!!!!!
Did you know that you are actually Parti-colored? I found this out with our Standard Poodle, who is colored much the same as you. We shaved him, and looked at his skin. His skin isalmost black, where he has white hair and pink where the hair is apricot. Who knew?

You are a cream/apricot parti.
Whoopee! Another group I can join!
Gail, we would love to have your poodle in our Blonde Doodles Group! Please join! Here's the link:

Comiskey, please come join us in our new Blonde Doodles Group! The link is posted just above your photo!
I have trouble understanding how the ends of the hair can be one color and the base a different color--in Luca's case the ends are darker than the base. Yet if you cut the ends the hair looks lighter for a while and then the ends again seem darker!
there is a gene that causes this. It is very neat. My Sweetie is red on the tips and at the skin but has a strip of apricot in between.

I once owned a boy that was chocolate at the tips and roots but white chocolate (light brown) in the middle.
Hard to imagine how that is programmed but thanks for the info.
it is really fun stuff. As a breeder this is one of the few things we look at when pairing up a mommy and a daddy.
