Poison oak - again?

Discussion at my house this morning - Is it genetic or environmental?  I say environmental and my husband says there is a genetic component.  But Harpo and I have it again.  I am very allergic and have it now in my eyes and Harpo has it all over.

But the bottles are cheaper than a can of repellent.  We have one on our BBQ, but got the bottle from a recycling place.

This is such a bummer.  I haven't ever had poison oak but I have had hives and I was miserable. I wish you a speedy recovery.

sorry about this Lynda.  I get poison ivy whenever I go into our wooded back - I stay away now.  I used to get it from our lab- she would pick up the oil on her coat and when she rubbed against me, I would get it on my legs.  It is miserable to be that itchy and especially your face!  feel better fast.

I say both, too. I never had poison ivy or oak, EVER, until last year. I really thought I was immune to Poison Ivy and then I got it last year. Yikes!!! I think F's answer makes perfect sense, so I obviously will be more careful in the future. In your eyes...sounds awful...hope you and Harpo feel better soon.
