Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I've been watching some of the US election coverage and I have to say it is making my head spin. As my mind wandered, which it is apt to do at times, I came to a startling revelation. I have to say a big thank you to Barack Obama, not because of anything he has done politically but because of his choice of a dog.
About the time Obama became president I was in the throes of my search for a dog and had pretty much settled on a Portugese Water Dog. The suggested dog for the Obamas was a Doodle but they didn't go that way, they picked a PWD instead. Up to that point I had a picture of a PWD as my laptop background and was working on DH to cave in and say yes we could have a dog. Well as soon as the Obamas picked the PWD, I crossed it off my list thinking that everyone would be wanting one and I wouldn't be able to afford one.
So to make a long story short I did some research and settled on a Goldendoodle although it still took some time to convince DH who didn't really want a dog let alone something called a doodle.
So I have to say a great big thank you to President Obama because of him I have my heart dog, one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I think that DH may just be a little smitten too.
Just as an after thought, if Barack Obama named his dog BO after himself and I had followed suit, my dog's name would be DK- Decay, not the best name for a dog.

Me too! Maybe we are all bonkers :) Love this post, by the way!
Thanks Doris, that's two things we have in common, doodle and we're bonkers. ;>0
I kiss Finnegan on the top of his head all the time. I never kissed a dog before FInn! I think I'm bonkers, but there's something about doodles that makes it "normal." Doodles are just very kissable! And its catching!!!! I've had several perfect strangers stop to pet him and then kiss him on the top of his head when they leave LOL Thankfully most people just pet him.
TY Linda.
Yup, I think Quincy has won DH's heart for sure! But then he's won lots of hearts here on DK and we've never met him. If you named him DK you could call him DoodleKisses instead of decay!
Bonnie, DH is just nuts about Dad's boy, not bad for someone who didn't really want a dog. :>)
That is great. I will never forget your video of you DH carrying Quincy across the stream, just to keep him clean. Now that's doodle love! My DH did not want a doodle when I brought up the issue of getting a dog. He was a golden retriever kind of guy. The other day he proclaimed that he's been "doodleized".
LOL, doodleized, love it.
LOVE! I have my own story about this also. Spud came along at the same time. I knew, I was going to get a dog in my White House too. My DH also was not on board, but............. as you can tell, I won that election!
So happy you are checking in on us tonight. We all may need migraine medication after these long months. If riots don't break out here in Ohio, I certainly will be surprised. Not. But. A report today called tomorrow, " Post Traumatic Election Syndrome"
Thank You, President Obama for Quincy and for Spud!
Joanne, Ohio plays a big part in the election, apparently Ohio has picked the winner in every election since 1964. I can just imagine how you have been bombarded with election rhetoric for months. I'm glad you won the Spud election, I hope you win in this one too.
