AUSTIN, Texas -- An Austin dog owner is facing felony charges after losing control at a dog park in North Austin.

According to her arrest affidavit, 46-year-old Rebecca Trammell is charged with the second degree felony of aggravated assault.

Austin police say they received a disturbance call from the Canyon Creek Apartments' dog park. They found that a woman, Trammell, had become frustrated with another dog owner who she claims was not cleaning up his dog's feces.

According to the affidavit, Trammell picked up the feces and threw it at the dog's owner. She then picked up a large, jagged rock and threw it at the man's body. The rock missed the man by six inches. Due to the size and close proximity of the rock to the victim, officers said it could have caused serious bodily injury.

It didn't stop there. Police said Trammell also spit in the man's face.

After the incident, Trammell reportedly attacked another person. She admits she became angry because that dog owner did not have his animal on a leash. Police say Trammell grabbed the owner's leash, cutting his hand and seriously injuring him.

Trammell's bond has been set at $7,000. She has requested a Mental Health/Mental Retardation (MHMR) attorney to represent her.

Thursday evening the vast majority of the local dog owners who spoke to KVUE News -- KENS 5's sister station in Austin -- reacting to Trammell’s arrest said they understand her frustration but they also thought she went about things the wrong way.

“I think that that's a little bit too much, a little bit overboard, but I guess I can understand the frustration though," said Daniel Heydenburg, a local dog owner.

KVUE went to Auditorium Shores along Lady Bird Lake to see if the city's Scoop the Poop campaign was having an effect. An overwhelming majority of joggers and dog walkers said it is.

“Most people are self-conscious enough to know what's right and wrong and I think the city has a pretty good message about it," said dog owner Jay Willingham.

Trammell is facing two to 20 years in prison and a possible $10,000 fine.

OK Joanne-I shouldn't have logged in since I'm supposed to be getting ready for work but...Myla had a grooming appointment at PetSmart yesterday. A lady with a small male dog was leaving the grooming department and lifts his leg and pees on the door! My husband said then she smacked the dog hard and looked up to see people watching her, she said "That's the joy of having a male dog" I did not see her hit the dog but DH did. They walk down the MAIN aisle and he's pooping as she's walking really fast with him towards the door. She looked back and saw it and kept walking, she was NOT going to pick it up but then the dog pees again. We were obviously watching in dissgust at this crazy woman-had to see what she would do next-so she stops and picks up the pee BUT LEAVES A LINE OF POOP IN THE  AISLE!!! That would have been a poop face wash if I had my way. I then saw an employee have to pick it up. People never cease to amaze me! We also had a big dog in the neighborhood who would poop as he walked on the sidewalk and the owner NEVER picked it up! DH knew who it was so I said maybe we should pick it up and put it on his doorstep everytime we see it!!! What's wrong with people? If they can't handle the responsibilty then don't have pets!!! I felt for that tiny little dog being hit for peeing. Anyway-after laughing at the dog who pooped in the store and the owner "fled the scene" Chloe decided to look at the cats for adoption and pooped right in front of the cages! I said lets's go-DH said the cat was watching in disgust and he needed to clean it up!!!  Too funny!! As far as the crazy lady-I hear of many at dog parks and our doodles are not allowed to hang with that crowd:) Thanks for the laugh this morning. She looks like trouble in that picture!!!!
