Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I was having such a fun vacation, camping with my family. First we went to a craft fair. It was HOT, but lots of people admired me. I liked it.
Then... we went to the beach with my best buddies, Kona and Buddy, and I played in the water with my brother and rolled in seaweed. My brothers got in trouble and had to stay with dad on the leash! I liked that because I got to go on down the beach with Kona and Buddy, and Clancy and Gordie didn't.
It was great fun. I liked it.
Then...... we met up with other doods and played at a dog park.
Then.... we met Kona and Buddy at a place called Botanical Gardens. Mom and GBK took lots of flower pictures which was boring, BUT lots of people and gnomes admired me, and I liked it.
Then ....Mom and Dad took us to a place near where the rockets are launched (Vandenburg AFB, California). This place is called Surf. The beach is permanently closed and you can read why.
But there is a waterway that is nearby and we posed for pictures. We saw lots of ground squirrels and got our noses all dirty digging for them. I liked it.
Now for the bad part. My mom noticed that something was growing on my right lower eyelid. It began growing just when we left and Mom watched it grow bigger before her very eyes. If you look closely at this picture of me, you can see it.
It got pink last night and Mom got worried that I had gotten some kind of irritant in it. So they took me to the vet!!! On MY VACATION! WTD!!!! The vet said that my tear duct was clogged and that she could snip off the growth but that it might grow back. She said mostly older dogs got these. I was truly offended, until everyone (all pretty ladies) snuggled with me and gave me LOTS of treats. They loved me and I like it. My mom and dad told the vet to snip it off - on MY vacation. I was really offended then and mad at mom and dad - they left me there. I'll bet they took Gordie and Clancy out for lunch while I was there.
Well, the vet put me in dreamland and snipped! That wasn't too bad, but - here is the really, really bad part. She saw me rub at my eye and she put the cone of shame on me!!! ME!!! I didn't even have a cone when I was neutered. Gee Whiz, folks! The vet tech that I thought loved me, tattled. She said when they put the cone of shame on me, I stood up on my back legs and tried to push the cone off with my front legs - like cats do! THEN, she told my mom when that didn't work, I just stood for a while on my back legs (well, I was in shock that it wouldn't come off) and then just laid on my back. And I thought she was my friend too. I didn't like it.
Now, I have stitches, eye medicine and a cone of shame. And Gordie and Clancy just told me they did go out to lunch! Stewpid vacation.HA HA HA. You can't keep a good man dog down. I just slid that cone right off my head no matter how Mom tried to fasten it on. I promised not to scratch at my eye (except when they first put the medicine in. I have been giving Mom and Dad the "oh-so-sad-eyed look" and it is working. I am getting lots of treats and walks and snuggles. And, Mom and Dad made more reservations to come back here so I can get my stitches out by all those pretty girls instead of the man dr. I usually see back home. So.... in two weeks, we get another vacation! Mom and Dad and Clancy and Gordie should all thank ME!
My mom and I want to thank you for all your well wishes. She reads them all to me. The bad thing about camping is that the computer signal is so weak that she keeps getting kicked off the internet so we can't reply very much. She will be glad to get home for better internet I think.

I love your storytelling! Adorable and poor Ned!
Hope you are healing and the COS is history.
It is now.... I am feeling pretty good!
Poor Ned, I am so sorry you had to go through that! Too bad it wasn't as easy taking it off as it is taking it out of the picture :(
Here he is sweet Ned on vacation before, with a little fix from you friend Gina. Love you Ned, hope you get better really quickly so you can get out of that cone of shame!!!!!
Thank you for taking this off, Gina. I didn't like that thing in my eye. It bugged! Please give kisses to my best buddies. My mom asked the doctor if I got something in my eye (thinking of sand) and that it was irritation, but it wasn't.
I passed along your kisses, xoxoxo to you too our friend.
I had someone check my camera. They were not able to figure out what is wrong, but said it definitely is out of wack. Whaaaaaaaa....... don't know what to do. I looked at Cannons.
Nancy...depending on how many Nikon lenses you own, you might want to stick to Nikon...just sayin!
I have only the original lens. I loaned the 55-200 to Gina, but it isn't a great lens, so..... I am just disgusted. Last time my camera was out of commission for a 4 - 6 weeks!
You can send your camera to Nikon and they will give you an estimate before doing repairs. I had to send my D7000 in for warranty work and the turnaround time was about 2 weeks. I think they are very easy to deal with. If your camera isn't too old or you have a number of lenses Nikon repair may be an option for you.
Thanks, Anne. I might do that. Mine is not under warranty any longer. I will have to check the cost of the shipping and compare it to the base cost of the estimate locally.
