post neuter itching- how to relieve dog's pain?

Hi all
My 7 month old was neutered four days ago. He is wearing a cone and is frantic to lick the stitches. He is whining and trying soooo hard to get to them. I've gotten some ointment that is supposed to help with itch, but does not work. Any suggestions?

Check with your local pet store they might have some kind of Hydrocortisone spray you can use that is suppose to stop itching, but I would call your Vet back first and see if they have anything else to help and if you can use another product like this.
