Phoebe was spayed two days ago and now she seems to have a slight irritation NOT around her incision but in another area where she had been shaved. I am calling the vet in the morning--it is a little red and she seems to want to scratch at the area--but I was wondering if any of you had experienced something similar with the shaving and had a good solution for the (what I am assuming is) itchiness of the regrowth. Thanks as always!
How's Phoebe doing? I was wondering if she was able to go through with spay or not....
I put my son's rib knit tank undershirt -AKA blank beater - on her, cut out holds for her legs and tied it snug on her back.
She did not bother the area at all as long as she had that shirt on.
I thought about a tee shirt but she is quite persistent and I feel she will be able to pull it up. I catch her lifting her hind leg to scratch the area but, when I looked, it does not seem to be getting an worse. I am going to call the vet tomorrow to see if she wants to see her or if it is maybe the hair regrowth that is bothering Phoebe.
I am guessing it is regrowth irritation. Fozzy's kickedd in on day 3. But, it never hurts to check if she is experiencing any redness around the incision. BTW, if you use hydrocortisone cream, make sure you don't take the cone off for a couple of hours, it is not good for her to ingest it.
