I have had my puppy for 6 weeks now and she is 16 weeks old. I am trying to teach her the bell technique to go potty. I take her to the same door every time and have her ring the bells with her paws. She is still not getting the hang of it. She never tells me in any way that she needs to potty. What else can I do???
We have trained three out of four dogs to the bell. Layla is almost 1 year and she has just started using the bell to let us know mainly because the other two ring the bell and she just goes out with them. Cotton started ringing the bell when she was about 8 or 9 months. I did either take their paw and ring or their nose. Sometime it just takes time. Hang in there.
Yes, touch it with her nose. I did the paws for weeks and my puppy wasn't getting it. When I switched to her nose and treating her then...it worked really fast
I have not try the bell, but someone said to put a dab of peanut butter on it at first so the puppy will nudge the bell on his/her own in order to lick off the peanut butter causing it to ring.
