FINALLY, maple at nearly 8 months lost her last tooth-upper canine. We've been having problems with her bite for months. She had to have her baby lower canines removed because of Base Narrow Canines. Her adult upper canines subsequently grew in a less than desirable position. It didn't help that her baby upper canines have been late falling out. None the less, tonight the last came out during fetch. We do this in excess called ball therapy to help improve her orthodontics. Anywhoo...there is a little 'slug like' red thing hanging out of the cavity. Anyone seen this before? She doesn't seem to bothered. My plan is to keep an eye on it. If it's still there in the a.m. I may bring her to the vet tomorrow. I've attached a pic. Feel free to embed, as I do t know how from my ipad.

It could just be a clot.

I agree, that is what it looks like to me too.

Oh good. That shouldn't be anything to worry about. Thanks!

Speaking from experience with my own tooth, I would say a clot for sure.  It is important to leave it there and not wipe it off. It is all part of the healing process.

Thanks, for the advise
Hi Karen, we have to do ball therapy too. Would you recommend a certain brand/type ball? Any advice on how to facilitate my pup's cooperation too? We tried fetch with small ball sz thrower thingy today. He liked it, but it certainly didn't last for the recommended 15 mins of pressure on his teeth, 3x/day. Is that what you have to do also? Aargh, any help appreciated - thx!
Hi Cindy, Yes! I'm glad you're reaching out. We must have tried 20+ different balls. I would be happy to share 'the best of' list. I have questions for you such what is Ripley size and age. I will check your profile and private message you with pics.
Please do! Thank you!!! Rippley is 26 lbs, 5.5 months...

Our 8 month golden doodle just lost another baby tooth this morning.   I was frankly a little shocked that there were still teeth to come out.  It does look like more of a baby molar, and maybe it's more common than I thought.

Could just be a piece of left over root, or pulp. I'd just leave it alone. It will just absorb, and disappear. If it started bleeding or something, then I would get it checked. I'm sure she will be fine.
