Problems with 911

I don't know if any of you have ever noticed but if you call 911 they can't help you with any pet emergencies. I think this is a serious problem if your pet is having an emergency by the time you relize 911 won't help you your pet could be dead. 911 is ingraved in everyones heads and not everyone has the speed dial of an emergency vet on hand. During emergencies you automaticlly remember what you were taught 911, no help for pets. I guess its a good thing I have the vet on speed dial. I just wanted to post this for those of you who don't know this, so you don't waste your time calling 911 for your pets.

Thank you for that - I knew I had the vet on my cell contacts, but I didn't include another entry for the 24/7 emergency vet.

I have message board by my phone and have magnets with phone numbers for our vet, poison control, and the emergency hospital closest to us.  I also have all three on my cell.  Good idea Taylor/Bryce to remind everyone.

 

BTW, I never know who is actually doing the posts (same as on Yappy Hour).  I think Taylor is on more but that is only I think Taylor is older.  Since both of you use the same account, it would be great if you would sign your messages at the bottom.  If you have seen posts on Ann Kendig's account, when her husband is posting (I think I see it in the Photography Group), he always adds his name at the bottom.  Just a suggestion!

There are on line vets who will answer any concerns for much less. I used one once and I think it was about $9 for good advice.

We have the 24 hour emergency number for the animal hospital posted and they are very helpful with questions and walk you through things-they don't always say bring her in unless they can't be sure of something. I however never thought about that with 911 my sister in law is a dispatcher. So I din't know they would not help-thanks guys!
