Hi everyone! Just wondering if anyone has any experience with new puppies and Christmas trees! If you have any experience, how did your puppy react? Are there precautionary measures we should take in preparation for setting up for the holidays? The thought of our little guy pulling down the tree or chewing apart/digesting wrapping paper from gifts under the tree makes me so nervous!

Any insight to this would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Thank you!  That's a good idea!  Last year I bought "My First Christmas" ornament but have yet to put a pic in it.  This pic is perfect.  :)

That is soooo adorable.  Would make a cute Christmas card:)

Thank you Lonnie!  This was on our Christmas card last year.  We'll have to come up with something equally as cute this year :)

Tammie...that is just gorgeous...we've never had a dog who liked to lie under the Christmas tree but our cats just love to do that...Roxy is so beautiful!

That is just the best Christmas picture, Tammie!  so, so sweet!

Oh this is an adorable picture, good girl Roxy!  :)

Thank you to all of you!  Not sure she'll fit under the tree this year :)

This will be Cody & Casey's first Christmas, too. Should be interesting!  In the past, when we have always put our Christmas tree - along with all wrapped packages in a playpen.   May look a bit strange to some, but always kept our pups out of the tree.  Hopefully, it will also protect tree and gifts from my boys.

What a great idea!

I did not put up a tree for 3 years just to avoid any disasters.  Last year was my first year since owning doodles.  My Sasha could care less about the tree but my Oliver liked to grab ornaments off the tree and break them.  He would not ingest anything he just liked to break them.  This year I think I am going to just decorate the top !  I hope he grows out of this.

Mandy, we are in the same boat.  Our puppy is 51/2 months old right now.  Our first dog, never bothered with our Christmas trees...other than wagging his beautiful tail and knocking a few ornaments by accident.  For our puppy's first Christmas we will try just telling her "leave it" if she goes near it.  We have most of our decorations up and she hasn't even bothered with anything so far.  But we cut down a fresh, real Christmas tree every year so should be interesting to see her reaction to it.

LOL...the plan, as it stands now, is to put up the tree and continue with family traditions. We have cats, as well and have always had dogs. So the bottom tier of the tree always had the non- breakable soft ornaments. And of course, NO tinsel. Enzo is usually pretty good about " leaving it", so, we can only hope for the best! And maybe taking turns doing sentry duty. ;)
