What size collar should I get for a 8 week old mini gd?  I had heard 9 - 11 should be small enough.  There are so many cute ones on the internet, thought I would order a couple in varying sizes, but wasn't sure how small I should start.

I I believe I bought the S for Peri (in the Up Country brand) when she came home - that is for an 11-14". Peri is a mini. Since the collars are adjustable, the 11-14" worked well. My chihuahua has the XS (9-11) and Peri was bigger than he was already when she came home. Now we have a Medium Up Country I believe and she is full grown. Up Country's my fave brand if you can tell...=)
I have an 9.5 week old mini gd and he's almost 10 lbs. I have him in a 11 inch collar that fits him comfortably. I recommend you not buying any that are too expensive since this is already his second collar. They grow very fast.
I would just take your pup to the pet store and try them on. Then if you do order you will know what size to get.
Ned came with a collar and Jane's idea of calling your breeder might be a good one because your pup might come with one also. I didn't think of you needing one to pick the pup up. We did have fun choosing one with Ned when we had him for a few days. Now collars are no fun because the only one we can use on Ned is a rolled leather one (best for matting doods) and although Clancy could have a fancy one, you couldn't see it under his curls.
