Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

My med doodle is now 9wks old. When i got him last week he was 6lbs and had soft serve poop with mucus and sometimes blood in it. I thought maybe it was stress or that I was changing his food too fast and that was causing inflamation in intestines. I decided to bring his fecal into the vet and it was negative. But, still having running stools and blood, etc. So today I took another stool sample in and it came positive for coccidia. How could the breeder fecal been negative and mine the first week, then now its positive for cooccidia. I knew his poop didn't look right and with the blood in it, it was scary. He has gained 2lbs since last week, so he is growing fine and plays hard. Doesn't look sick.

Started on albon for 10days. I'm concerned for my other doggie now. We have been cleaning up the poop outside and covering the area with soil. So I'm worried my oldest dog will get it and my indoor cats. Wonder if I should treat her n cats too? How do I keep everything clean now?

Very frustrated!

UPDATE: vet said not to worry about my other doggie or cats as long as they were healthy. He had the Classic symptoms of mucus/ pudding/waterery/sometimes bloody diarrhea. When small infections occur, fecal might not show the eggs in ever fecal test...that is why he was negative last wk and positive today. Vet said he should be feeling better in a couple of days.

Hope the little guy feels better soon. Good to hear there is no concern for your other pets.
