Puppy's diarrhea

Who knows what to do if a puppy has diarrhea? My dog ate somth yesterday and today he has liquid stool and he vomited two times. It looks like his stomach is empty already, so I'm not sure if I need to go to vet anyway or I can wait for tomorrow. I'm not going to feed him. Just give him a lot of water, but I'm worried if it's ok to wait.

He had his fourth parvo shot month ago. Do you think he could catch one anyway?

Anna - personally I would take him in to have him checked out especially since he is a puppy.  I understand how costly it can be when it is an emergency visit but unfortunately that is part of the deal of pet ownership.  I wish they would learn to be ill during the week.....

You could also call the emergency vet and see what they say.

Diarrhea on its own is not necessarily a big deal, but vomiting with diarrhea can be a bigger deal.  Especially in a puppy I would be worried.  Either something is not moving through or parvo.  Don't want to alarm you, but since this is a puppy, better to drop into the vet or at least call and ask what they think.  Okay I just noticed he had his 4th parvo shot a month ago, so that is far less likely now.  But I would think perhaps something he ate is stuck in his GI.

Anna, what food are you feeding?  Did anyone offer your puppy a snack in the last few days.  A biscuit from the drive thru maybe.

At first I thought Parvo but also read above. Not likely.  So many reasons.  Really, a vet sounds like the BEST idea. We are all just guessing out here.

That could be your pup's problem - or some other type of worm, but I agree with the others to have your puppy checked out, either now or first thing in the morning.

How's your puppy doing?  Cocoa has a long history of eating things and getting sick so I can relate!  I hope he's up and feeling better this morning!

Hi guys! Thank you so much for your concerns!!! Dexter is doing better. He's got Giardia :( but he is in the good mood and always was, so he is normal now. His diarrhea lasted only 1.5 days. We gave him rice and chicken and were right. Our vet said it was a good idea and suggested to continue doing so. Poor baby is always hungry.. I can not give him a lot of food and can not look in his begging eyes.. Worst part was when he needed to fast for 24hr.....

Now he eats almost normally and is going to be ok soon!

I am so glad he is feeling better :) It is so sad when they look at you all pitiful when they are sick.
