Pythiosis something to be aware of
I have never heard of this.
The person whos dog died of this a week ago lived in Illinois. : (
It is not usually seen in the midwest...But because of the mild winter the water areas did not have a deep freeze to kill off the mold
I thought it was important to be aware of this & wanted to share.

It is a scary thing..with similar symptoms to other things...Thats why I thought its good to know about it...Since a test can be done to diagnose it. The sooner it is dx the better prognosis. There is also a vaccine that can be given immediately after dx.
The dog that died of this - they thought it had cancer : (

I know this is an old topic, but I happened upon it while playing around today and thought I would also share some additional information in the event that anyone is reading this discussion looking for information.
We had a chocolate lab rescue who died from this. Unfortunately we did not get a diagosis until after she lost her battle. There is a company who is having a good deal of success in treating this disease. They also have a blood test (last I heard $40) to aid in diagosis.
