I posted this in the obedience group but no responses yet :-(
Does anyone participate in Rally O or is anyone working towards competing? I just learned about this sport earlier this week. I have my 9 month old in intermediate 1 obedience right now and everything they are teaching us makes so much more sense!!! The purpose of the whole class is working on off leash heeling. I am interested to learn more about this sport and would love to compete with my dogs.
They have a Rally O class at our obedience club, but we haven't checked it out yet. I don't know a lot about it, but it sounds a little more fun to me than standard obedience. I may check it out someday, but, right now, we're in advanced obedience and flyball (starting tonight, yippie!).
I just started a Rally I class with Riley. I initially signed up to continue with basic obedience training after taking basic and intermediate training classes. I had no inclination to compete, but as I"m learning more about Rally, it seems like a lot of fun! You can talk to your dog, use hand signals, and praise your dog while you're competing. So, if Riley takes to it and we're both having fun, I may change my mind later.
I have been thinking about doing this with Peri - my trainer says the same thing - #1 goal is off leash healing.
I have decided to do beginner agility first though. Rally-O one day! But please keep us posted on what you decide.
I went to Adv. Obedience Wednesday night and rally was after it, but it was postponed. Our kennel club is having a guest speaker in June for a seminar you can bring your dog too. so we are holding out till then. Which in retrospect is a good thing. This way I can concentrate on all the stuff I am learning in Adv. O and then practice for my CGC test with Zoe. *fingers crossed*, then I will be able to concentrate on rally and then agility will start in july. onces again *fingers crossed* that it all falls into place correctly! The instructor shoed me all the signs for novice, advance and expert in rally and it doesn't look to difficult. I eventually will hope to go off lead with zoe. she just is still too excitable at first when she sees people and other dogs. has anyone had the doodle settle down?
