We aren't sure what is going on, but last night Maya had a 'poop attack' in the kitchen...3 different piles of poop! Not full on diahrea, but def not the normal stools for her. 4 weeks ago we saw the same type of thing and it lasted for about 4-5 days straight...then it just firmed back up on its own. I took her stool samples to the vet for testing and it came back negative for all parasites...Anyone know what may be causing this random type of bowel overload? We cannot figure it out. I should mention this week, her appetite has been higher than normal, so our first thought today is maybe she is just eating too much?
This morning, I took away her food and just gave her water. I gave her some natural pumpkin to help firm up her stools....Should we take in another fecal sample to the vet for more testing? We just aren't sure if she is licking something she shouldn't or eating things outside that we can't see...(We really try and monitor what she is sniffing and eating outside, constantly pulling things out of her mouth).
Help! Does this sound like irritable bowel syndrome? I'm just hoping this isn't a chronic issue.

Both my doodles have spells of loose poops every now and then. I usually mix some pumpkin in with the kibble, sometimes I even hold off on food for 24 hrs. Or sometimes white rice and chicken.
I would definitely take in another sample. Try to get a few, if it is giardia, the cysts are not present in every sample. Although giardia would not just go away on it's own for a few weeks and then return, I would still have a test done to be sure.
It's possible that she is eating something she shouldn't outdoors.
Another possibility, since this happened approximately a month ago: does the timing of these episodes coincide with monthly HW or flea/tick preventatives?
Hi Karen,
No, her heartworm and flea/tick meds get administered on the 11th of the month...so we will be giving her the next dosage like next week....this is the end of the medication cycle if thats what you are asking...
We were thinking too maybe she is eating something outside...she's like a little vacuum cleaner outdoors and just wants to sniff and grab everything! Like I said we are constantly pulling things out of mouth to be sure its not harmful, but obviously can't control every little thing! I was going to wait a few more days to see if it clears up on its own, and if not, then I could take in another sample for testing.
