Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi All!
We have had a new F1B goldendoodle for about 2 weeks now and husband had to go into the doctor today because of the severe allergies with wheezing and the whole 9!. Not sure if its because of the pup (deep down inside I feel it is), but it just so started getting really bad once we brought her home. I hate to even admit it, but it very well could be because of her, but it could also be from the pollen and stuff. I don't know now what to do...I feel torn and I hate to return her, she is such a love bug and so pretty... OH MAN!!! She does shed a bit when I hold her, but her coat is super curly, could it be Dander? Please Help!!!!
Thanks!

I will say that I have severe allergies, asthma and horrible lungs and the pollen this year has been horrible. Jack's hair is a magnet for the pollen and I could not even run my hand over his body it was so filled with pollen balls. I am of the strong belief in not overbathing your dog unless you really need to.
It was recommended to me to wipe Jack down first before I brought him in the house. I literally had to brush him first, then wipe him down and I still vacuumed twice a day. I also have UV filters through my whole cooling/heating vents as well as two huge hepa filters running at all times.. I was still a mess.
I took Allegra, did sinus rinses, nose sprays, was on Prednisone and changed my linens daily until the pollen passed. I live in SC so we are past the really bad part of the pollen since it has been Spring here longer. I am now only slightly bothered by it. It wasn't Jack I was allergic to, he was the vector for all the pollen!!!!
I sincerely hope that is the case for your husband but be sure to wipe her down before coming in and if it is really bad, leash walk her to go potty and don't let her run around the yard. That helped a lot too.
Happy you are going to keep Lily and you are right Dolly would have been a great name for her.
I have asthma and allergies, last Spring wasn't too awful bad but this Spring is way worse. I am wheezing and sneezing. The worst culprit for me is molds and certain trees and we have protected wetlands in our back yard. Daisy was here last Spring as well so she is not the culprit. I think the allergens are just high this year. In our area we had record high rains so very wet all April, not good for a person with mold issues.
Hang tough, I'll just bet it'll be better in a month.
Hi All,
Thanks so much for the advise and positive thoughts. DH will start allergy shots in December and I agree with all of you that this season has been the worst ever for allergy sufferers. DH's doc said to do the sinus rinses and take the nasal sprays. His nasal passages were very swollen and inflammed and she also noticed swelling the throat. Lily is such a sweetheart and may I also add, SOO SMART! Already knows how to do a handshake, sit, and stay (going on 9 weeks old now). I love my little powder puff girl!!!!!
thank you so much everybody!
