Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

  Hello,
I am looking for help to rehome a 1 year old male Goldendoodle.  This is not my dog, but the breeder (I know, using this term loosely) contacted me since she knows I have one of this dog's littermates and another Doodle as part of my family.
She has asked me to take this dog as she is unable to care for him any longer due to family problems.  I have not met this dog, but am going to go pick him up sometime this week to prevent him from going into a shelter.
I know that he has not been altered (my dogs have) and I suspect the owner wanted to use him to breed.  She has told me he is (mostly) house trained and is (pretty) good in the house.  I know that he has been raised with very young children and am assuming he is not agressive.  I will know more once he comes to my home.
I do have two young children and, as I said, two Goldendoodles of my own (Stella is a therapy dog and Stanley is in training) and do not want to adopt another dog at this time.  I am taking him to keep him safe, but would love some help to find a suitable family to adopt him.
He is a big boy.  My dog Stanley is over 100 lbs and the owner tells me he is probably as large or nearly so.  She has told me he looks just like my Stanley, so check out my photos to see what this big guy looks like.
I live in NE Ohio.  Please let me know how to contact Doodle rescue... I did email the idog rescue but my email as returned.
Thank you.

The biggest problem is finding a foster for him who will be able to get him vetted and see him through the neuter surgery. (Rescue pays the costs) Finding adopters is no problem, as long as the dog is reasonably civilized and can live with people and other animals. There is far more demand for these rehomes than there are dogs available. If you can keep him for 2-3 weeks, we can find him a great home. In fact, I have some waiting in that area.

Hi Cherie,

DRC Yes as Karen stated.  Also, on the main page is a family looking to adopt a doodle and they live an hour away from you in Pittsburgh.  Maybe with the DRC help and the family from Pittsburgh you can get something together  :)

Cherie if you can foster we can take care of his vetting etc. and certainly place him in a pre-approved home. Email us the info....doodlerescuecollective@yahoo.com.......I'll call you....Thank you so much!
Your Doodles are so beautiful....that "big guy" is especially amazing.  I think it's really great that you're going to get this poor guy so he does not end up in a shelter.
Thank you all for the replies.  He will be going into the DRC.  I'm going to foster him until we can find a more permanent situation for him.  I'll be picking him up this week... possibly tomorrow.  I'll let everyone know more as info becomes available!  Thanks again... I'm so relieved he will be adopted into a "doodle approved" home!  I'll post pictures when I get him home!
Great news!  I'm dying to hear more about this guy.  Thanks again...what you're doing is very special.
Good for you!
So happy to hear that! I foster for the DRC down in Atlanta and they are a GREAT organization! Thank you so much for helping this sweet doodle find his forever home!
Cherie thanks so much for fostering the big guy.  Like Frannie, I foster for DRC in Atlanta and concurr they are a excellent organization.  I am sure he will have a forever home in no time.
Thanks for stepping up and keeping this poor guy out of the shelter!! I'm looking forward to your pictures and update!
You are a SAINT Cherrie, lucky doodle, thank goodness for those who care and can do something about it.
Ditto to what Jane said.  Looking forward to an update.
