Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I truly was surprised just how many in our DK family have rescued Doodles. I would love if everyone would share their story in the Rescued Doodles Group. I know most don't have the whole story as to why their Doodle ever needed rescuing but share as much as you know.

If you already posted your story, update it and share more pictures.

PS - if anyone can help another doodle find their way into a loving new furever family, let me know.

HOPE AND LOVEY WERE PULLED FROM A KILL SHELTER IN TEXAS BY DRC TEXAS DIRECTOR KIM KONRADI . THE GIRLS AND THEIR MINI COMPANION FAITH WERE BREEDER DOGS FROM A LOCAL MILL OPERATION AND WERE IN TERRIBLE SHAPE BEING INFESTED WITH FLEAS, WORMS AND OPEN SORES ALL OVER THEIR POOR STARVED BODIES. HOPE THE OLDEST DOG TESTED POSITIVE FOR HEARTWORM.
IN OCT.09,HOPE AND LOVEY WENT TO THEIR NEW FOREVER HOME WITH DRC VOLUNTEERS AND MEMBERS RON MCGILL & CAREN ADAMSON!....RON AND CAREN WERE GRACIOUS ENOUGH TO ADOPT BOTH GIRLS AND DONATE HOPE"S HEARTWORM TREATMENT!

Wonderful heartwarming story. Thanks so much for taking both the girls. Their after picture is amazing.
Yes, the after photos are wonderful. I love these stories that end up with happy endings =)
Leia was a Pet Smart Puppy - the first family that had her chained her in the back yard and basically did NOTHING with her for the first 18 months of her life - they deceided to give her away - the 2nd family that took her - cleaned her up and took her for obiedence training - and then found out she was pregnant and could not have both a baby and a dog so they gave her away - the 3rd family that had her - had a 6 yr old little boy and a 2.5 yr old little boy - well the 2.5 yr olds favorite thing to do was to terrorize her - he would back her into corners and get in her face and hit her and she would try to get away and he would just chase her into the next corner and she finally bit him - she got so frightened of little children that on a walk one day a little girl trie to hug her and she apparently snapped at her - so they were going to put her down -

I had NO PROBLEM going to pick her up - I live in Tampa and she was down in Sarasota - so I drove down with Vader - to meet her and pick her up - and while I was signing a paper sayng I was aware that she had bitten someone the little boy walked up behind Vader and started kicking him - well you can imagine how well that went over with me -

We signed - packed up and headed for home - and she has been with me every day since -

The day we brought her home - she was laying on the foot stool - her favorite place- and Vader was sitting on the floor and my granddaughter reached over to hug Vader and Leia growled - I corrected her and she has NEVER done it again -

Also - from the day she came into my home I would not let anyone except my granddaughter (5yrs old) give her treats - I wanted her association with children to be a positive one

We attend events almost weekly and she has learned that children are OK- we have never had an problem with any child that has wanted to put her -
What a sad beginning for Leia and a great rescue story. I feel bad about the little boy. it sounds like his parent are raising him to be a monster. One day an animal or person will turn on him and really hurt him.
With a little bit of creative thinking you chaged Keia's world! Small people + treats = no more issues.
Not difficult but very dog savvy. You are what the rescue world needs! Take a dog that is ready to be put down and figure out a very simple solution. Granted, not all dogs will have the same result but unless you try you just don't know.
What a wonderful story and thank you for sharing it.
Ops - missed this part. Let me just say sweetly that if any human attempted to kick, hit or speak inappropriately to my girls I will post on DK that I need help raising bail! I would probably just return the favor to the parent who doesn't know how to raise their children.
I can't begin to tell you how many adults and kids down here just walk by and pet them without asking me if they are friendly or not. WTD is wrong with these people. they are not tiny little dogs - Samantha is 23" tall and Charli is close to 27"! Again I say - W T D!!!!
We could start a mutual bail raising group.
hahaha! I want in on this! As you know, I take major issue if someone even looks at Timbow wrong. :)
I know! Kids walk up to my dogs all the time too! Marley is still pretty fearful of new people too. You'd think a parent would teach their children to ask!!
I love the slide show theme this week - beautiful rescued doods!

I know Adrianne wants the stories in the Rescued Doodles Group, but it would be nice to see them here too, so more people view the stories.

The story about Leia is particularly sad to me...I guess in this case, 4th time's a charm! (ended up very happy though!)
I just started a group where we can tell all sorts of Doodle Tales

We can all tell our tales, come join.
