Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Even though Halas loooooves Tina the Groomer, and will be very still, sweet, and cooperative for however long she has to work on him, he hates it when I brush him. As a result, I don't brush him nearly as often or as thoroughly as I need to. Combine that with he and Barley being together for the better part of this month, biting, chewing, and slobbering on each other, and I had one matted doodle. He went to see Tina the Groomer yesterday. I told her that she'd probably have to shave some spots, but she always does her best to avoid that, or try to work a comb-over situation to cover up a spot that she has to clip really short or shave. I also wanted about 2 inches taken off of his coat anyway, so I was expecting a very short-haired doodle when I picked him up, and that's exactly what I got. She had to go so short in so many spots, that he looked really patchy, so she just evened him out. I think he looks really good, and he's velvety soft. I also like that you can tell he's not fat. When his hair is long, everyone thinks he's fat. Now, you can really see his scrawny little neck, although it's covered by his ultra-tough skull and crossbones bandanna in these pics.
Here is a before pic. It's just of his face, but it's such a goofy look that I had to include it. These pics are all from my phone, so I don't know how good they'll be.

And here's one of Barley, just because he's cute, and partly responsible for the state of Halas' hair.

He was pretty tangled, so I'm sure he does feel better. He's been strutting around on our walks. I had to tighten his collar, too, because of all the hair that's gone. But he's also been tired, because he stays at the groomer's all day when he goes, and that really tires him out.
I love Halas's new look! It's a lot like Tara's summer do! Tara has the same problem with people thinking she is a chubby girl when her hair grows out! WTD??? People say "Wow, she's really gained weight!" when nothing has happened except her hair grew!
He looks so soft and velvety I would love to give him a hug but please pick up all your pillows before I get there!
Barley is just too cute to be any kind of a troublemaker! :)
I have even larger pillows now, which I thought would be harder for Halas to move around. But that's not the case. It's a little more work, be he still pushes them around, just waiting for the right moment to smother something.
Well, darn! Something just came up and I can't make it to your house after all. Please just give the little killer sweetheart a hug FOR me! :)
ROFL, Ricki! I've missed you!
Thanks Karen! It's good to be back stirring things up joining in the fun again!
I don't know about you but I am very defensive with Daisy....it's almost like someone telling me, wow you've really put on the pounds! Who would say that, no one right? Well then don't say it about my doodle - she is skinny under all that fur - LOL
I hate it Lisa! It's RUDE!!! I mean she is standing right there-she can HEAR!! I don't like being told that she is spoiled either! In that case I tell them "NO she is just well cared for!" Some people!
They do hear and understand, I used to have a husky and she was a bit overweight so what...one day a neighbor woman lit into me going on and on about how fat my dog was, Alma started whining and I got so angry and shouted back "Why do you care, look after your own fat ass" I have no tolerance to rude mean people. The nasty thing was her dog looked underweight and was kept on a long chain outside 24/7...I was so glad to move away.
Vivian that is so rude! Your poor Alma deserved better!!! At least you were there to handle things for her. I feel sorry for that woman's dog. It needed rescued from her too!
Ricki it too all the patience I had not to hit that woman, and as for her poor dog many of the neighbors and I reported her to the dog warden and she was fined for the dog barking but they didn't remove it from her. I found out that someone came one day when she was gone and rescued the dog, it was a Shepard mix and I hope it has a good life now.
Vivian thank you and the others for helping that poor dog. It just sickens me to think of a dog on a chain for its entire life. I hope he/she has a very happy life now too.
