.Ruby (John's service dog) has ear problems. Gave her a bath & noticed brown wax. Cleaned them out with a good ear cleaning product & now they are bright red & bothering her. Can't get into her vet until tomorrow. (Monday) Any ideas how to relieve her until then? Scared to use the wrong thing. Looked on line & sounds like either mites or infection. Picked up some ear mite stuff at Walmart, but scared to hurt her ears more. Any ideas? Thnx! Susan

I have a question about using Thornit. Is there a danger that some of it might travel too far down into the ear canal? Also, and this might sound crazy, but would it work to clear up yeast that's problematic between a dog's toes? Thanks in advance.
What do you mean by too far. It could, of course, go down the whole canal but unless the eardrum is ruptured, the canal dead ends. Nothing should be put into an ear canal if the drum is ruptured.
I guess I wasn't clear in my question. I would like to know if a problem could arise if the Thornit powder migrated too far down toward that part of the outer ear canal that abuts the ear drum. I'm very interested in seeing if the product could help resolve Wally's ear issues, but am wondering if there are any risks associated with using it, that's all. I've read that lots of people have had great success using it on their pups.
Camus has had an ongoing yeast ear infection for ~ 5-6 months and nothing was helping him. I posted a discussion asking for advice, this is the link http://www.doodlekisses.com/forum/topics/i-m-at-a-loss-several-mont...
Not to scare you, but I thought the information might be helpful. I took him to a veterinarian dermatologist as Karen suggested and I am so glad I did.
Thanks so much for your reply, Christine. Wally has already been seen by a veterinary dermatologist, as I am a big believer of traditional medicine. He is still having issues with his ears and toes, though, so I thought I'd explore some alternative approaches, and then run them by his doctor before trying anything new. Thanks :o)
Have you used that product before? She maybe sensitive to it.Also do her ears have a foul oder? If so it is most probably an infection.
