I just saw that Rudy was adopted!!  For some reason, that guy haunted my thoughts and if we didn't have three already, I would have driven to FL and got him myself. I talked to my husband about it more than once.   Although the stories are usually a little sad, his struck a nerve (maybe because I turned 50 this year?).  So glad that someone saw how special he was.

I kept thinking "come on! the dood's 6 years old (young!) and sure, he has a seizure disorder, but nobody's perfect!"  So glad his foster family is a foster failure.  As a mom to a special needs dog, it is just something you adapt to.  So glad, again, that this family is keeping him.

So glad he was adopted.  I was tempted by him also.  We had a dog with epilepsy for 13 years.  Once he got on the Phenobarbital it was no big deal.  At one time he was taking 7 pills a day.  We were able to wean him down to 4.   We never noticed any change in his behavior.  After he died we found he had a hidden stash in the guest bedroom.

His foster mom worked hard with the vets to find the right meds and the right dosage to help control his seizures, but not keep him in a stupor. That was part of what turned potential adopters away. The poor boy was so lethargic, he showed no interest in anything or anybody.

He plays now, and he's lost weight, too!

Oh dear! drug hoarder!

Okay, for those who can't see the FB photo story, here it is. This post on FB is the way Rudy's foster mom let us know she wanted to keep him:

Goldilocks- The Goldendoodle Version

This is a new version of Goldilocks - Our story begins with two goldendoodles, one beagle and a new red bed......make certain you read to the very happy ending.

The first goldendoodle Dusty jumped into the bed and tried and tried and tried to fit. Finally he said "But this bed is too small for me!"

The Beagle said "My turn, let me try that spiffy new red bed". But after a few minutes she moved away saying "But this bed is much too large for me"....
Finally Rudy (the most polite and patient boy ) asked if he could try. And wonder of wonders it was a perfect fit. Just like he is the perfect fit for our family. So Rudy is no longer our foster kid. The bed and our home are his forever.

He's so handsome!  And he looks very content in his perfectly-sized new bed.

Quite a change from the way he looked when he arrived at his new home:

Oh, yeah.  I forgot his old owner's had him cut this way before he left their home.

Am I the only one that thinks it's mean to cut a dog like this?

Nope, I think it's beyond mean. Let's do one last thing to make it even harder for him to get adopted.

I can't begin to imagine the thought (or lack thereof) behind it.  It's not cute, interesting, or cool. To me, they were either just plain mean or this was a result of the most attention starved individuals one can imagine. Of course, that Karma I spoke about earlier does work both ways. In this particular instance, I would be a little skittish on several levels.  He looks soooo much more dignified and happy now.
