How did it go with Sam last night??
I was wondering the same thing....
Sherri updated on page 2:
"Thanks for the votes everyone! We went with red and it was a big hit! The folks who came to visit were amazing. So kind and lovely. They brought their 11 yr old border collie and Sam was so gentle and respectful and she liked him (mostly because he let her play with his new toy that they brought him). He definitely was on his best behaviour. They are a retired couple with lots of time and clearly lots of love to give him. House in the country, fenced yard, quiet home, clearly very loving towards dogs. They brought him some treats and a toy. They will be sending me their vet references and then we'll schedule a home visit with them.
He has another meet and greet on Saturday but honestly, I don't know how it could get any better than this. I am over joyed. He's going to wear the purple tie on Saturday so we'll see how it goes ;-)
I'm happy and sad at the same time."

Paws crossed for the best forever home!
thanks for re-posting this Karen.
I received an email from their potential adopters and I am even more excited about them. She wants to train him to do therapy work, which he would be very good at when he grows up in my opinion. She also said she could tell how he has bonded well with my fur family and so would welcome us visiting him whenever we want. They want him very badly. The other potential adopter who is coming on saturday doesn't have another dog for him to play with, so I already think I know in my heart who will get him. I've weened out a bunch of applications already and I am pretty sure this is the right home. The rescue is making me do at least three meet and greets before I narrow it down to two for the home visit and vet references. I understand why they have this process so I will have to see it through. The only problem is the longer this takes, the more time he spends bonding with me, kitty and the doodles which will make it so hard to give him up.
I like the first couple and I didn't even meet them :) Good work, Sherri!
I'm with you Laurie! Sounds like the perfect match:)
My only caution would be that they are willing to commit to him forever, even if he turns out not to be a good candidate for therapy work. Expectations for what the dog will do or be should be limited to "with love, exercise, training & consistency, he will be a wonderful companion". Period. :)
such a good point, Karen
Thanks, Karen! I guess I should have checked. I am getting lazy in my old age :)
