Molly is the first female dog that I have had that needs to be groomed around the girly parts.  I don't know if I can explain this right but here goes....her girly part is hairy which is trimmed when she goes to the groomer, but the hair around that specific area appears to be red.  Molly does not over lick that area, but she will lick there.  Is this normal or does she have a irritation or hot spot?

Thanks

You explained it fine and there is probably nothing to worry about. A hot spot starts out looking like a small raw sore and grows bigger from there quickly. Molly is very cute!
Thank you Bonnie.  As you can probably tell I have not had a dog with a hot spot either so thanks for the info.  Your pups are absolutely adorable.

Is it her hair that's red? Or the skin around the area?

Hi Kyoko, it is the hair not her girly part.  I wonder if it is normal and is just moist there therefore the hair color is dark and reddish.  I just don't know what to do for it, or should I just leave it alone?
I don't think there is any need for the worry.... It is probably "Just a little different color" like Molly's ears a bit darker and oranger?
Myla has the darker hair around there too. When we had her teeth cleaned we awked the vet to trim it and shave her lower part while she was out! I would just ask the vet next time you are there, it's probably nothing to worry about.
Thanks for the info Jennifer.  Next time we have Molly in the vet I will have it checked.  If I see her paying alot of attention to that area I will take her in right away.  Sometimes I think I just worry too much :)
Ned has red eyelashes - just thought I'd throw that in.
LOL rolling around on the floor LOL, thanks Nancy I needed that ;)
that is hysterical!!  Nancy you are funny :-)
I am guessing either urine, saliva or both, have changed the color of her hair.
Thanks Linda, you are probably right.
