Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Guys, I'm new (ish) here. I've been visiting for a while, but never really posted. A bit desperate now, so here goes.
Yesterday, I got home and my other half had brought our dog to the groomer to get his nails clipped. Not thinking, she asked the groomer to trim his fur as well.
Now the problem.
- Obi (the dog) is 5 months old (groomer was told this)
- He shaved Obi's fur really short (sub-1")
- We are off to the Alps on the weekend, and there is a lot of snow.
So - short of having a nervous breakdown (she opened the house door shouting "surprise!"... yes, it was a surprise...) any suggestions?
I have a few sweaters (mostly cotton, but one waterproof thing with fleece lining) that he can wear to keep him warmer... but I'm worried about his legs (snow) and eyes (sun)...
Any advice? I'm in the UK, so snow suits are really hard to find for dogs his size...

IMO, I think the worst part will be the pups paws. My dog starts holding his paws up in 5 minutes of being in sub-freezing weather. http://www.ruffwear.com/dog_boots He wears these boots. It will be super hard to guess at what size and order off the web.
At the very least you could try using Musher's Secret to protect his pads.
Just about any sweater/jacket would at least help to keep Obi warm.
Welcome to Doodle Kisses!
Where in the Alps are you going? My brother is taking his family next week. Have a great time! Keep warm.
We'll be in Bardonecchia (north west, near Turin)... so nice and cold... sigh...
I'll be buying boots today; just hope a pet shop has them!
Thanks!
Any other ideas?
Sunglasses and goggles are available for dogs too. Tara has a pair of each. They are tinted can be used for eye protection from glare but it normally takes some time to acclimate a dog to them. Not sure he would be comfortable with them by the weekend. Tara's are from the Doggles line, I don't know if they are available in the UK.
I am sorry for your "surprise" but clearly we need a picture :)
