My Doodle sheds! I didn't expect it at all. Was told he would be low to no shedding. Is it puppy hair? Will it get better?

ugh..... I bet you are frustrated LeAnn. One of the main reasons I too got a goldendoodle was because they weren't

suppose to shed. At what age she your doodle begin to shed??  keep me posted - I would love to know if it does get any better - best of luck.

I have a F1 Shepadoodle and he sheds, he's the worse shedder I have ever known - I too was told he wouldn't shed, and was the main reason we got him because of mild reaction to pet hairs by one of our children.

These breeders who tell us doodles are hypoallergenic are just out to make money and that's it - it's annoying to say the least because not only are they messing with potential human health problems, they are placing puppies in homes where the dog will be unsuitable, and that's not responsible.

I have to groom him daily and vacuum twice a day to keep the hairs down (we have a Dyson Animal, it's excellent for getting all the hairs up from carpets).

I use a rake type brush, then finish with a soft brush to collect hairs on top of the coat, I'm not sure if this is the best way?

Nobody around here has a doodle so I can't check.

He's just 10 months old now and I'm hoping that it's mainly puppy hair and the fact we are in spring now, because a few months ago there were no hairs at all. There are really light fine whispy hairs that stick to clothes (especially white shirts) which are hard to get off, I often find hairs in my food and my mouth, it's very unpleasant. The clumps of hair I find are no problem, it's just the others. He sheds a lot more than a German Shepherd!

I use a Furminator on Loki. Our groomer recommended it and it works great. It helps for a couple days at a time. What is a Shepadoodle? Sheep dog/Poodle? Or shepard? Lol Just guessing. Im also hoping its puppy coat and gets better!

My beloved Luna was an f1 labradoodle and shed like crazy. Tumble weed all over the place. It kind of drove me crazy. When we bought her 11 yrs ago we were told she would probably shed some. So breeder did not mislead. My new girl is a f1b curly coat with hopes of a less shedding situation. So far so good at 4 months. Not one hair!!!! The key to it is the vacuum. My broom vac was my best friend!

My Josie is 9 months old and sheds like crazy. I use the furminator on her a couple of times a week and get piles of hair. I vacuum the hair off the brush as I brush her. This has helped to reduce the hair around me. All of our clothes are hairy, we go through the sticky rollers like crazy. We bought a Neato robot vacuum cleaner. I have it programmed to vacuum every day and loooovve it. It picks up all the hair and does a great job. On the weekend I use my central vac and do a good job. Though in a couple of hours it doesn't look like I vacuumed at all. I expected that she would shed though when we got her. She is 3/4 retriever, 1/4 poodle and has straight hair. She looks  like a mini retriever.

She is so cute, thats exactly what I said, that she looks like a mini golden :) we had a golden retriever, he was a super dog. Miss him lots. We also go thru a ton of lint rollers lol Menards jus had em on sale and i got 12 LOL. Your dog doesnt bother the robot? Mine would prob eat it! We always have doodle bunnies floating around :) Thanks for your comment! Have a great weekend. LeAnn
