Finnley's coat started changing around 5 to 6 months. I always brushed her everyday anyway, so I got most of the falling out fur. Then for Thanksgiving, I brought her to a REAL groomer, and after a bath, haircut and mega brushing VIOLA ! That was the end of her puppy fur change. Now where it was kind of straight to frizzy, it's wavy to curly, plus she no longer sheds at all !
I wonder if this has something to do with what type of coat they have? Some have fleece, wool, fleece/wool mix and some have the lab hair that sheds. I have so far not had this kind of problem with Stewie yet and he just turned 7 months old. I am always on top of brushing him out, and I never brush him when he is wet. Once he dries from his bath or his half baths as I call washing the face, undercarriage, paws (if he has went out in rain and muddy) and rear end. Stewie has a fleece coat, so maybe that makes a difference as to the type of coat they have? I have heard that it is anywhere from 8-12 months when they may "change" their coat so guess we will see how that goes...ha! Gotta love our High Maintenance Doodles! :)
