more like fritos ? smell the paws ... I heard it is the corn in their diet ? not sure though

Hopefully, not too many doodles here on DK are eating foods that contain corn. :)

Donna, how old is your dog and is this something new?

How often is he bathed, and what products do you use on him, i.e. shampoo, conditioners, etc?

Is the smell all over, or is it in a particular area of his body? Have you checked his ears?

thanks.   I'll check all of these things

My dogs' paws have always smelled like corn chips and I don't think their food contains any corn. I think it's typical, isn't it? Although if it is a wafting overwhelming smell perhaps there is a problem.... I only smell it if I get my nose close to their paws...it doesn't permeate a room or anything.

Yep, we've had a few discussions here over the years about dogs' feet smelling like Fritos, lol.

Yes, I think the fungus in the paws happens corn or no corn. A vinegar dip ship old do the trick, for a while.

I started smelling dog paws when I met my husband. He too, thinks dog's feet smell like Fritos.  Many years ago we had a lot of laughs on DK from my husband comments.

The cats love smelling dog's paws.  My dog does not eat corn-based food and his feet are wonderful to smell~ well usually  :)

Enjoy.

Violet's food has corn meal in it...her paws sometimes smell like fritos.....could be a worse smell ... right ?

Most of our dogs' feet smell like Fritos and they don't eat foods containing corn, so I really don't think they are related. I don't think Frito smelling feet are unpleasant at all.

You might want to check our list of recommended food brands in the Food Group, though. Corn is not a great ingredient for dogs, and the companies that use it usually also use other ingredients that are not great. None of the brands on the recommended list use corn products in any of their formulas. :)

Yeast or bacteria could be the culprit.  Check between your dog's toes (above and below) for signs.  We switched our dogs over to a raw diet and that solved the problem.

thanks for the help
