Smooth F1b goldendoodle
I bought my goldendoodle from a breeder and was told he was a F1b mini goldendoodle and that it would probably improve the shedding and that he would be wavy. I have had him a couple weeks and his hair hasn't changed at all, and he looks like a black golden retriever. I know that smooth retriever looking goldendoodles were possible but very unlikely with a F1b. I was hoping somebody could give me some insight. Will he likely stay smooth or get wavy. I'll include some pictures.

How old is the puppy?
Don't panic...your puppy is adorable. Give the puppy's hair some time to grow, until then...love and enjoy the puppy and work on training. The pictures below are at 9 weeks and 18 months.....straight hair and wavy hair. - Attachments:

Michael, Doodle Kisses has lots of great tips on potty training, food etc... Read as much as you can on this site. Karen and Jackson, Adina and many others are terrific sources.

You can get a smooth coated doodle in any generation. So it is possible that he will have an open face and possibly shed too. He's DARLING though.

I'm on my iPad so I can't add pictures, but if you go to my page, to the photos, and then the Hartley album you'll see my F1 LD. For some reason I don't have any young puppy pics on there, but he looked very similar to your guy as a puppy. As he got older he did get a beard and his coat is wavy. He does shed, but nowhere near as much as a lab and his coat is very easy to care for. Looking forward to seeing how your guy changes as he gets older, Hartley went through about three coat changes before it settled into what he looks like now!!

He is gorgeous - such a rich black. I don't know how he will develop but he certainly will be a beautiful dog.
