So winter is here and so is the snow and the matts. Sonny LOVES the snow. Playing, rolling in it, jumping, etc... The problem is he instantly matts. No matter how much I comb him, which is a fight in its self, Sonny matts. I knew he was pretty badly matted so I took him to the groomer today. She had to cut him very short to get out all the matts that were everywhere on him from this snowstorm. My question is what do you think about investing in a snowsuit for him to prevent him from having to be cut short every winter?

I found this snow suit online and was wondering if anyone has it or what you think. I did buy Muttluks for him, which helped his feet but I need some help with the rest of his body. He just has the type of fur/hair that snow sticks to and he becomes one giant snowball. I will attach that picture later on.

Sorry the pic is so big but this is what I was thinking of ordering.

I loved Diane's idea of pj's - covering the legs and bellies of Jersey and Jasmine. My girls are much larger so kids pj's won't work. I spent hours searching for doggie pj's and found this site on ebay. I emailed to find out what she would need to make them - this is the email I got back. I don't  know what she will charge. I will share after I send her the measurements.

I need to know their measurements -

- neck to tail;

- neck add extra, so it wont be too tight;

- legs;

- thigh;

- chest

What kind of fabric you want flannel, fleece or something else

What color  do you want;  with print or no

-stretch  knit on the end of legs and around the neck .

- Do you want open belly or closed on the belly .

Just let me know what you are looking for and I will make it .

If I will have more question I let you know :) Barbara

I have to know the info first and what  state and city you live  . On ebay  usually  for shipping I charge 3.99 . I have to know what kind of fabric you want and then I will let you know before I will make it

Those PJ's are so funny. I wonder if she can make it in a waterproof material?
I was so excited to see this post as we have a lot of snow here in MN and Phoebe loves every inch of it but her mom sure does detest the mess when she comes in. She loves the snow so much that, even though she is almost always leashed, even our usual walk becomes a snowfest for her complete with lots of snowbals attached to her legs and underside because this mom has tropuble saying no to Phoebe and her antics. I am buying one of these suits today (the best part is that my husband who usually rolls his eyes at all things doodle-related thought this was a great idea as well.  Go figure!)
Your dogs must be so patient to get all this gear on every time they need to go out.  I assume it is no different than what you have to do with children, but here in Ca. we have no concept of truly bad weather and many children wear a sweatshirt jacket year round - even though they should have warmer jackets.
We don't have to put it on everytime he goes out as we take him out to potty on a leash, so he only has to get dressed up when he is going out for playtime.
Well I have to say you have got me stumped on what to do about face snowballs, those are some great ones. I guess if those were the only ones you had to deal with a hairdryer would probably do the trick. Great photo.
Unfortunately that is generally what happens to his whole entire body. That photo was from he was only out for a couple of minutes and had stuck his face in the snow to get his tennis ball. I try to have warm towels in the dryer and wrap them all over him and then blow dry him (which he hates as much as he hates being combed!!) He loves the snow, I swear his eyes light up as he sees it but the snow and his fur are not a good mix. Unfortunately my groomer had to cut him down super short so I don't have to worry about the giant snowball clinging to him. Now I just have to get over the silly look! lol
