UPDATE- SOPHIE IS GETTING HER SURGERY! AND YOU HELPED DO THIS! THANK YOU ALL!
HOMELESS GD NEEDS OUR HELP!!!!
This beautiful curly 2-yr-old girl is desperately in need of costly cataract surgery to restore her eyesight! She was surrendered to a humane society shelter by her owner, who was unable to care for her. The Humane Society would not adopt her out due to increasing blindness because of operable cataracts, and would not pay for the surgery to restore her sight; Second Chance Animal Rescue pulled her from the kill shelter and is trying to raise money for the surgery. Please take a look- we can give her 14 years of being able to see this wonderful world around her! Any donation in any amount will help; even $5. Thank for looking. (photos also below)

Actually, Second Chance is budgeting for a quarter of the cost of the surgery themselves, so the goal is about $1725 from the "Sophie's Fund" donations...although any extra sure won't hurt!
You know Leslie, a lot of credit for this goes to you, too...you're the one who encouraged me to post Sophie's story here in the main forum. Look what you did!
This is truly a group effort. Every little bit does help, especially when you can get the word out to a couple thousand people. I got a free oil change yesterday (took way longer than they said it would so they didn't charge me), so I think I'll use that extra money to donate a little more.
If they haven't posted a lot of the snail mail checks yet, I'll bet that total will jump again today and/or over the weekend.
I am going to follow Gail's lead, and so many of the rest of you who have creatively figured out ways to eke a little bit more of our tight budgets to help Sophie. I had already donated a very modest amount, as Jackdoodle's medical expenses are particularly high this month and I didn't think I could afford more. Well, Jack's 4th birthday is Friday, and the money that would have gone to purchase a gift for him is going to Sophie instead, in honor of his birthday. Jack doesn't know it's his birthday anyway, and he's getting a nice piece of fresh fish for dinner. So another modest amount will be heading Sophie's way!
I am sending in my donation of $5. Just think, if all the DoodleKisses members sent in $1 it would cover this surgery. It would be nice for whoever the nice person was who posted this would put the address for sending checks in an easy to find spot like in the post or on the photo ad. I did find it but it took me a bit... (i'm so computer slow) Here is the address for others;

Great - Adina, could you possibly update the link in the feature window on the right side here on DK to go to the site Karen just provided? Right now, it goes to the discussion, which is confusing !!!
