UPDATE- SOPHIE IS GETTING HER SURGERY! AND YOU HELPED DO THIS! THANK YOU ALL!
HOMELESS GD NEEDS OUR HELP!!!!
This beautiful curly 2-yr-old girl is desperately in need of costly cataract surgery to restore her eyesight! She was surrendered to a humane society shelter by her owner, who was unable to care for her. The Humane Society would not adopt her out due to increasing blindness because of operable cataracts, and would not pay for the surgery to restore her sight; Second Chance Animal Rescue pulled her from the kill shelter and is trying to raise money for the surgery. Please take a look- we can give her 14 years of being able to see this wonderful world around her! Any donation in any amount will help; even $5. Thank for looking. (photos also below)

Just when I am about to give up, on people, I am reminded of how wonderful people who love animals really are!
The thought that Sophie is going to have a chance to live a normal life, with a family that loves her, instead of being gassed in a metal box, terrified and alone, is enough to make my Holidays!
Here's the reply I got from Second Chance Rescue - encouraging! Thought I'd share with everyone, since there's info about adopting Sohpie - for those who are interested and live close by!
Thank you for your generous donation of $XX to Second Chance Animal Rescue in order to help defray the cost of Sophie’s eye surgeries. We sincerely appreciate your gift (and so does Sophie). And, thank you for your interest in adopting her. We have a policy of not adopting out of state (at least not so far away), but you can rest assured that Sophie will be getting her surgery and will be adopted into a wonderful home. We are receiving so much support from around the Country. We are posting the updated donations on the site every few days. I don't think Sophie realizes what a lucky girl she is. It will be fun seeing her run and play without running into things. :}
Thank you so much, Eva, for sharing this with us! It IS encouraging! Together, we are making sure that Sophie WILL "run and play without running into things."
WHOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO, Thank you sooooooo much Karen for starting this fund for Sophie doodle. She is just another precious doodle needing help and DK IS COMING THROUGH!!!!!!!!! A BIG thank you all from Lucy and I too. I am proud to be a part of this marvelous group of people.
Here is an update from an email I received from Nancy @ Second Chance Animal Rescue:
Hi Karen - Thanks so much for ALL of your effort in helping Sophie. We are so appreciative of how many people care about this one girl and have donated. We are posting donation updates every few days so people can see where we are. Right now, we (and you) have raised $1,135!!!. I did look at your doodlekisses site. It's so heartwarming to see.
If you look at Second Chance Animal Rescue's web site, you will see we have been around for over 14 years and we go above and beyond to save lives. Look at our most recent newsletter that we just posted on our home page - www.secondchancerescue.org.
Thank you and thank Adina for everything you are doing. Have a wonderful holiday and blessings.
I wanted to let you all know that Sophie's foster mom has been provided with the link to this discussion. I want to thank her for taking such good care of Sophie; as I have said many times before, foster parents are the most important link in the rescue chain. Rescues such as Second Chance Animal Rescue, IDOG RRR, and so many others can pull adoptable dogs & cats from kill shelters, but only if they have somewhere for them to go! Thank you to all those who foster, from the bottom of my heart...and the "birthday boy" says thank you, too!
Thanks so much for your kind heart, Diane. I have been checking the website for updates, but there aren't any since 11/27; I am sure we will be seeing the total rise in the next day or two.
THIS JUST IN!!! E-MAIL FROM SECOND CHANCE ANIMAL RESCUE:
WE ARE AT OUR GOAL!!! With the projected donations coming in the mail over the next few days, we know we will have met the goal!! We just updated the web site with the $2,160 total so far, and we will be updating the site as Sophie has her surgery. Thank you for networking with your people to help us reach the goal. What a great, caring group of people.
I HAVE THE CHILLS AND AM CRYING BESIDES. THANK YOU ALL SO SO MUCH!
