HOMELESS GD NEEDS OUR HELP!!!!
This beautiful curly 2-yr-old girl is desperately in need of costly cataract surgery to restore her eyesight! She was surrendered to a humane society shelter by her owner, who was unable to care for her. The Humane Society would not adopt her out due to increasing blindness because of operable cataracts, and would not pay for the surgery to restore her sight; Second Chance Animal Rescue pulled her from the kill shelter and is trying to raise money for the surgery. Please take a look- we can give her 14 years of being able to see this wonderful world around her! Any donation in any amount will help; even $5. Thank for looking. (photos also below)

Karen, I have a few questions and I apologize if the answer is somewhere. How long will they wait for the donations and if they do not get enough $$ where will the money raised go?

This is a rescue similar to IDOG RRR in that they pull adoptable dogs from kill shelters, and house them with foster homes until they are adopted. They are committed to the dogs, and will care for them as long as it takes. I don't think there is any time limit on when the surgery can be performed, and I am sure that they are going to have it done, whether they raise the full amount or not. It is just they operate on donations and very modest adoption fees, and paying out this much money for one dog's surgery will deplete their entire budget, keeping them from helping other dogs, and possibly even put them in debt. I believe, and will verify if possible, that this money will be used for Sophie's surgery, whenever it takes place.

Amen to that! I wish there was a way to let Second chance rescue know that DK is trying to help Sophie. I am going to look into e-mailing them when I get a chance. (It's hard to find time, what with my DK addiction, LOL!)

Good idea... maybe even create a "donation" group..or something like that so we can keep updated etc... on dogs helped .. would be nice to know!! Just imagine we help Sophie.... and Sophie's parents join Doodlekisses...then we can always be reminded of what we helped!!
