Brooksy just got groomed and my hubby picked him up and we know how men are about asking questions...well, they shaved behind his ears, apparently there must have been some mats that I didn't feel. I'm going to call on Monday. Anyway, Brooks has always been an ear scratcher and he's tested negative for any mites or infections, but now since he's shaved, he's breaking the skin when he sratches! Any advice or tips? I feel so bad for him and I can feel his sores back behind his ears. Can I put neosporin on them? Or just leave them alone...? Thanks ALL! :)
I have used neosporin on Samantha - in area she can't lick. I am not sure if it is toxic if it ingested.
How about a bandana although I am not sure it would stay on if he sratches. A last resort would be a comfy collar so he will let the skin heal. I have seen them at Petco.
What about an antibiotic cream that has a 'painkiller' in it. Hydrocortisone cream? Burn cream? Aloe? Maybe a trip to a Walgreen's and ask the pharmacist for an idea what you can use on open skin.
Good Luck! I hope Brooksy feels better very soon!

I used neosporin behind Eddie's ear when I nicked it while trimming a mat. He started coming up and bopping me when it was time for a new application. :-)
