A few years ago my husband made a hanging mobile out of old dog bones. Here is the old blog. WTD is in the Tree?

This Spring, the mobile finally feel apart, was taken down, and most pieces have been thrown away. Sad, because it really did make some cool music and sounds in the old days even though at times I thought it was tacky, it was very unique to my dog and the back yard  :)

We have a new problem though. Apparently some of the pieces were picked up by this Black Squirrel

who has hidden them way up high, out of reach, in the tree next door.

He sits in the tree, just above the fence and the gnawing is relentless.  It goes on for an hour or so at a time. He will carry his bone from branch to branch when done, like it is the best thing that happened since acorns!    Who knew squirrels had such a strong chew drive?

Spud is going out of his mind.

How Funny. Poor Spud.

Oh no, I'm so sad that the bone mobile is no more! It was such a unique creation!

The squirrel with the marrow bone is hilarious. Poor Spud.

Oh RJ....this is SO funny.  Who else has a bone eating squirrel but you!  I am sorry about Spud though....that would drive my Murph crazy too.

Crazy squirrel!! Poor Spud!

LOL...Poor Spud!

Sorry the cool unique mobile is gone.  Poor Spud!

Spud!   You poor guy....that little squirrel is taunting you!       I've never seen a black squirrel.....how cute!    J, I remember that talented DH of yours making this.  So cool!

That's pretty awesome. A squirrel and his bone. Who knew?

That's hilarious! A bone loving squirrel!  Poor Spud…hide your toys ;)

That is hilarious!  I never would have believed it!  Poor Spud - sometimes I think squirrels just love to antagonize dogs!

My condolences to Spud... but that's a cool looking squirrel. We only have grey squirrels where I live.

Also, squirrels are rodents, and have a strong chew drive because their teeth are constantly growing and they have to keep them short enough to be able to eat.

Our squirrels just pull the flowers out of the hummingbird feeders so they can drink from the feeders.  At one time I figured their little den was wallpapered with yellow flowers, but then I started find them underneath the feeders.  A squirrel also bothered a blue jay's nest, and the blue jay was squawking and chasing the squirrel down the telephone lines, claw over claw.  It was so funny to watch - a squirrel and blue jay altercation.
