Squirrels

Sunday was one of those rare winter days when the sun was out and temps in the low 50's. After lunch we headed off to the park an hour away from home.
As soon as we got in the park we met a beautiful white Goldendoodle named Heidi. Of course I told her humans all about DK and invited them.
One gray muzzled dog walking off leash gave Haley wide berth. I guess she had a bad experience at one time.
When we were walking in a wooded area a squirrel paused on one side of the trail and then scampered across in front of and not 4 feet from Haley who had no reaction what so ever to the rodent. I guess I don't have a squirrel doodle.

I know there are a lot of doodles (and other dogs) who will take off after a squirrel. How many of you have a doodle unaffected by squirrels?

He was probably still thinking about Heidi! LOL  Tara's squirrelometer has not been tested but she'll go after a chipmunk so...maybe that's a mini doodle's version of a squirrel! LOL

Those chipmunks are really fast.  Does Tara ever catch one?

Murph who takes serious offense to other dogs who pass him by when we're on our walks really doesn't seem to mind the squirrels. I think he figures they're just not worth his time....he's saving himself for the barking, lunging Yorkies that happen to challenge him on the bike path.

There were a lot of Yorkies Sunday and all but one were barking and lunging.  Is it that they are so small that so many people don't take the time to train them?

I don't know...that's probably the case.  We used to run into them all the time where I used to walk and they would set Murphy off....he could spot a Yorkie a mile away.  Now I avoid walking in those places with Murph...we stick to deserted trails through the woods...LOL.

You crack me up Sheila!  I've been there too when Haley gets his mind to greet someone who comes in our yard when he is on leash.

My dogs are all obsessed with squirrels and will just take off after them.
