Stew is getting groomed this weekend, thankfully because his nails are getting long.

I was filing my own nails last night and thought that I bet I could train stew to do a "scrape" & scratch an Emory board or sandpaper. I thought this was so cool but apparently I've been living under a rock & it's already a thing. There are tons of videos on YouTube.

So I got a pack of sandpaper with 3 different grits & a clipboard. He was freaked over the clipboard so I started by holding the sandpaper in my hand. He learned it SO quickly! I might try teaching him "right & left scrape" so he does both paws. I wouldn't think it would be too hard since he knows right & left paws.

Check out the video below!

Even after we clip Annabelle's nails they are still sharp. My husband has jokingly said try sandpaper. I did try it once but she wanted no part of it. I guess I could try it again.

I just started by having Stew give me his paw, then I'd scrape his nails against the paper, say scrape & treat. He caught on really quickly! My trainer was really impressed with Stew's army crawl, I can't wait to send him this video lol!

How cute! : )
