Hey everyone.

Archie has had diarrhea before just like any dog, but this evening for the first time he has had a little different issue.  When I got home from work today, I took Archie for a walk and when he went to the bathroom just a little came out and it was like pure slimy mucusy almost looked like egg whites mixed with poop (yuck) LOL.  When I just took Archie out about 30 minutes ago, he tried going to the bathroom several times and nothing came out...complete constipation or so I think? Only like a little dripping came out, but pretty much nothing.  Can anyone help me out with what may be going on or if you have had any experience with this?

Some things to keep in mind.  Archie did not eat his breakfast this morning (which happens a lot) He is mostly a lunch and dinner guy...but he also didn't eat during lunch, so mind you its been 24 hours since he has had his food.  But he did just finish his food just now when we came inside after being out there trying to poop.  He is acting completely normal and doesn't seem lethargic or anything like that.  Also, not sure this is related, but we changed him to Acana Wild Prairie 2 weeks ago, somewhat soft stool, but mostly been okay.  Maybe its too rich? Maybe go switch to grain? IDK.

Please anyone with any help on this issue would be awesome.

Appreciate it as always!

Sam

I wish I could help. Lily Grace and I have been fighting this and vomiting for 2 months. More test coming for her. My vet says mucus is a sign of colitis. If this keeps happening I would call your vet. Good luck.

I would call the vet, and also have a fecal done.  Did Archie possibly get into something that he shouldn't have?  Is he ever alone outside?

If/when you do go to the vet, do not let them sell you an RX food..it is poor quality ingredients.  Here is an article on it from The Food Group:  http://www.doodlekisses.com/group/thefoodgroup/forum/topics/why-you...

Mucus alarms me since I saw it with my sheltie's pancreatitis attack (which led us to finding her gallbladder mucocele and bladder cancer). I'd definitely get to the vet and run the appropriate tests. And, yes, don't let them sell you on the RX foods. Will be thinking positive thoughts for you both!

to inform everyone, Archie is fine.  No VET visit was necessary. He only had one bout of this mucus bowel.  All is good.

Thanks!

Great.
Thanks for the update! Hope all continues to go smoothly!

Glad to hear he is okay! Our switch to Acana is going well so far too!
