My first doodle has a quite a bit of curl (Not as curly as a poodle).  Her coat is thick and mats so quickly!.  Her brother looks to have a much straighter and not as thick of coat.  I know this may change, but I remember Charlottes Coat very well in her puppy days, and It is much different than Heffners.

Is a straighter Coat easier to keep brushed than a curlier coat?

Sometimes!

The only thing about a straighter coat is it tends to look a bit unkempt faster.  As Karen would put it the doodle looks like an unmade bed.  Although equally adorable and inviting no matter what the coat!

Stanlee has "hair" instead of a wool or fleece coat.  He will be a year old next month and we have never had matts or knots  and this is with me brushing him maybe twice a week.  However, this type of coat MAY shed a bit more than the curlier coated doodles so I hope that isn't an issue.  I like this "Disney Dog" look and chose this coat type because of the wiry hair.  Of course if Stan had come out bald I couldn't love him any more than I already do!

But as Adina said......"sometimes" because one never knows with a doodle, espeically if it is an F1.

I was just looking at the photos of your puppy....stinkin' cute by the way.....and it looks like the pup may have more of a fleece type wavy, soft coat.  Stanlee's coat was not that soft and fluffy looking, he looked more like a junkyard dog that was saved from the street of Uzbekistan.
