So I've been wondering at this for a while...Does anyone else's doodle have striped nails?
Luna has mostly white nails, but the tops of most of them have a "racing stripe" of black right down the middle from the base all the way to the tip.
These are the best pictures I could take - the 3rd picture tells most of the reason why... the rest of my excuse is that my camera is terrible (especially at closeups!) I'll try again in the morning with some natural light.

Nope but sounds pretty neat!! Wonder if it's rare?
Do you think the stripe might be the quick showing through? Do take a picture.
That's what I think too, F. The Quick.
No it's not - it's pigmentation in the nail itself right on the surface, but just down the middle, it's so strange!
I can see the quick pretty clearly, but it's underneath the black.
I took some pictures, but my camera is really bad at closeups so they're very blurry. I'll try again in the morning with some natural light.
Yes! That's a much better picture than the ones I took. Hers aren't all striped, but a few of them look just like that.
Her sire was an apricot mini poodle. Thank you, makes sense!
I thought maybe it had something to do with the fact that she's a mix, and poodles often have black nails so it was some weird genetic combination.
It may run in retrievers, too, I'm not familiar with the breed standards for Goldens or Labs.
In poodles, the nails of black, blue, silver, cream, and white poodles should be either black (preferred) or self-colored. Browns and cafe-au-laits should have dark brown nails. Apricots are where you get the most variation, although black nails are still preferred.
I think Winston's nails are like this too. I'm not home so can't check, but I will when I get home on Sunday.
Camus has one striped nail. The rest are flesh colored.
This is so fashionable and interesting.
Ollie has a stripe on 1 nail on each foot. he also has a black birthmark like spot on his tongue.
