Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Most of you saw Joanne's recent post after Spud and Starlit's collar tag loops became entangled resulting in a very near disaster. Being a one doodle household I was confident that this was ONE issue that I didn't need to worry about!! That was until I walked into the living room the other day and found poor little Tara with one of her stuffed animals hooked into her collar/tags and dangling from her throat!! She was trying to walk but, being a mini, she was having a tough time navigating with this giant stuffy hanging in front of her.
I don't know how this would have played out if I had not been home. I know she would not have been able to eat or drink but I am wondering if this could have become a dangerous/life threatening situation? I've tried playing out all the possible scenarios in my mind...but I'm not sure. What is your opinion? Has anyone else had anything like this happen with their doodle and stuffies or other toys?

I tell you Laurie, it is a sad day when you can't even trust stuffed animals. They just don't make them like they used to...
I don't know if I can be trusted to remember that her tags have been removed and they need to be put back onto her collar every time we leave the house. I'm sure you are too young to understand what I mean. :) I am going to find some other system to replace these dangling tags though-they need to go!
TaraBear says thanks for the hugs and right back at ya!
Thank goodness it was just a stuffed animal!! There are several of us here who have the Boomerang tags for our dogs. They are AWESOME and they don't dangle. They thread onto the collar and they are almost impossible to come off without really working at it. They are made of stainless steel and are tough as nails. Best of all, they are really inexpensive. I think their website is: www.boomerangtags.com
Yes and No. DH attaches toys to the dogs collars ( he is such a boy ) when he is playing with them. The dogs roll and run around in circles.... you get the idea.
Geesh, stuffed animals, tags, and collars, OH MY!
Poor girl. She may become Stuffed-Toy- A Phobia!
It is like Food. We need to have it but it can make you fat or choke.
During the recent nightly tornado warnings I put the tags and collars back on just in case the house blew away and we became Dorothy and Toto. DH and I argue constantly about the collars. He thinks they should stay on but he was NOT THERE during that horrible incident.
So what to do? Lock up all the toys when we are gone now too?
I agree Joanne!! Where does it END??? Tara seems to have forgiven her stuffy for the vicious attack because I saw them sleeping together last night. Although I did make sure that "Miss Kitty" was no where near Tara's NECK!!
I would be a total collarphobic if I had gone through what YOU went through with your doods!! OMG!! I hope that Starlit has recovered from it by now! If I remember correctly she was pretty shaken up by it. :( Tell DH if he likes the collars so much HE can wear them!! hee hee!!
