Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
My mom is moving to Hilton Head, to a retirement community called Sun City. We are here over night. Today after checking out some of the model homes, Jack and I got dropped off at the dog park, This was our very first experience in a dog park with big and small dogs...
As soon as we went in, I was greeted but the cutest LDoodle ever, The guy told me the ropes of the park including the new leash rule... So I took Jacks leash off and held my breath.. I know he has done great in school but he has never run with huge dogs before. He did great, He ran and ran, When the big dogs went swimming in the pool he barked at them and waited for them to get out.
All together, we ran into a total of five doodles at this one dog park!! They were all so cute. I was so happy to have my dog back playing with me since Grammie was off looking at other houses.. It was the funniest thing, as soon as my mom walked into the play yard, he stopped what he was doing and yelped and flew across the whole park to get to her.. People made so many comments on how excited he was to see her... I have to remind her, he is my dog...
I love Hilton Head Beach as well, Jack got to run on the beach, he even went in the ocean, which means I went in the ocean I didn't want him to go to far...
I was wondering if any of the people I met today were on here, I told some people about it but most of them were older people who said they are enjoying their life and don't have time for a computer. HUMPH!!!
I swear Sun City is like a Disney World for older people and dogs...At dinner tonight, we were eating at this place and a lady took her check book out and tried to buy Jack.. from my mom of course because where else would Jack be but at her feet...
All and All Hilton Head is very dog friendly, the waitress even brought Jack his own doggie bowl of water and he was the star of the place.
Jack is now sound asleep on my moms bed in the hotel with my mom snoring next to him... and me, I am wide awake because I can't stand snoring!!!!!!
Anybody else have a real dog friendly beach area they bring their dogs to? I would move here in one second if only my house would sell

Donna, come play, it is so dog friendly, we even took Jack in the stores today, They all welcomed him and loved on him.. I couldn't get a thing done because we were stopped every five minutes and Jack had to sit and be petted and I had to say, " I don't know, I think a step stool was involved" Toy Goldendoodle, a Golden Retriever and a toy poodle"
I swear I couldn't get anything done but it was so much fun, the best was being in the ocean with him... He jumped the waves it was so much fun. Come on Donna you can live in the non 55 community across the street with me
That sounds really nice for your mom and you get to go visit! Funny anout the Grammie thing-also congrats on the dog park we had out good experience (1st) Sunday we were so relieved and you never know until you try! I'd pass on the gators also!
(Better have a talk with Jack before he visits Grammie)
Uggg, the gators get me, but even worse is I know Jack, he will have no fear and go and try to sniff its butt.. He just doesn't have any fear.. Today, we went back to the dog park, I have to say, nothing is funnier in the world then having a bunch of dogs romping around together and then having them spot a squirrel, They all hauled butt so fast across the park to get it, Of course my half dog, half cat actually made it about a foot or so up the tree.. I did get pictures. They are on my droid and I have to figure out how to get them onto my comptuer.
We ran into a beautiful doodle today named Bella, I loved her so much. As I was hugging her, her eight year old brother from another mother and father starting barking at me. The owners told me ever since they got their doodle, their other dog feels neglected so he pushes Bella out of the way to get his pets too. That was sad. They were both cute. I just love dogs...
Jack played really well with the big doods again, which gives me hope that he and Sasha of Susan and Sasha will be able to play together soon!!! One big puppy would not get out of Jacks space when we first got there, Jack growled, the big puppy didn't get out of his space, Jack growled again, I went to correct him but everyone said let them work it out... The puppy again was up in Jacks space and this time Jack got mad and growled and started chasing him. This HUGE adorable puppy that wouldn't leave Jack alone, hauled off as fast as he could and my silly little 12 pound dog, decided he was going to chase this dog. I was scared to death, thinking Jack is going to hurt this puppy, but he chased the puppy off and that was it, the puppy didn't come back in his face the rest of the time he was there.
I have no idea if I handled that correctly or not and I don't have a trainer I can ask. Jack chasing huge puppies somehow does not sound right to me. Some people have said that dogs don't know size amongst themselves..
Now you know why I am afraid of Jack vs and Alligator, I just know Jack will try to tell it who is boss and I will no longer have a dog.
What do you think, do you think it was okay that I let Jack chase the puppy off?
Oh I could so easily move there. Sun City is speficicially said to be an adults Disney World, it is so non reality and dreamy, My mom's house should be done in November or December, we really need to sell her house in Daytona Beach now.
