Tank top worked great. A nuisance to take off and put back on at first but after a bit goes pretty fast I sewed the middle section of bottom of the top and then cut a hole for her tail Put the two back legs in first, then the tail and then the two front...worked great. Shouldnt be tight over the incision. Had velcro on there first but her hair kept getting stuck on it. We had it on for 14 days as per vet, then the night we took it off she started licking the bumpy area of the incision (which she had the day of her surgery) and ended up with a slight infection there. It went back on and she ended up wearing it till her incision was completely healed. She didn't bother with the tank at all, even when we did the test run the day before. All the best to Izzy!!!!!
Well that sounds better than a cone too. The tank worked great for us but when it got stretched at the top end we used a cotton tie loosely to keep it from falling off her shoulders. She fought the cone big time and I liked the tank top as it let air circulate around the incision. I made 2 so we had clean ones every day.
I bet my girl, Sunny, wishes I'd done this instead of the cone!! She had to wear the cone for about a week and whenever I took it off, she went straight for the incision. She couldn't stand it!
My first girl wore that cone....Macy removed hers as soon as she got home She rolled over at the vets onto her back, then we had to get her up...I pulled on the leash while the vet tech pushed her out like a stubborn mule from behind...It was hilarious!....
Thank goodness Sunny was still only about 15 pounds when she was spayed! She wouldn't get up and walk, so I just picked her up and one of the vet techs opened all the doors and my car door for me.
