Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Well, Yogi is now 7 1/2 months old he had been the very best puppy ever. I've wanted to get another doodle since I first thought about him.
DH said go for it this morning. So give me your best reasons I shouldn't do this. I thought I'd like to get one within the next 6 months so they will be near the same age and maybe also a little smaller like 25#'s. His mom and dad have been bred together again and due in another month or so.

Tell me why it's a bad idea ;-)
... Or if you must, why it's a good idea. Thanks!!!!!

I didn't mean had been good, but HAS been good. Sorry, typing on cell phone :-)

This is a dangerous discussion, Leslie. Ragley is only a month younger and I have had the same experience- easiest and best puppy ever.

Also- I know for me the financial aspect would be limiting, but I am a young new grad who has just entered the "real world" so I'm in a bit of a different place in life! Saving up for one was hard enough! I can't wait to hear about the new addition ;)

I hear you!  They are a big financial commitment, especially for a single income.  I'd say it's not so bad after the initial $ spent to get the doodle...But we both know thats not true.  (Chewy.com)  haha!

I am a big advocate for multiples, I think they are much happier having a companion if possible and 2 are really not that much more work than one. Doodles are so much fun, just be prepared for double doodle kisses and hugs so no cons from my perspective! Congrats in advance!

Your reply makes me more excited.. oh no!

You may not get many multiple doodle owners to say it's a bad idea :)  We have 2...one XL & one M...both male...they love having the other around to play, tease, snuggle with in the car...it gives the dogs the full dimension of both human & canine contact.  You'd better call the breeder :)

I love to see dogs playing together, they just seem so blissful.  I think I want that...

Leslie, it isn't a matter of "want", it's a matter of do you have the finances and time to have another beautiful, cuddly, adorable doodle in your life?  I would have LOVED to add a second doodle, but for us, it is not a good decision.  Traz had bloat last year and the medical expenses associated with that and maintaining his lifestyle so it doesn't happen again, has not be good on the pocketbook.  IF it were strictly up to me, I probably would have had 1 more doodle,  But, my husband thinks differently and so you have the rest of the story.  Remember to post pictures if you decide to go for #2.  Good luck with your decision :-)

I think the biggest stumbling block when I talked my husband into the first one was that we might be more tied down.  But the change has really been worth it!  One more won't really make that much difference.

Sorry to hear about Traz and his bloat, so glad he made it through okay.

I have two doodles !!  would not have it any other way !!!!

Are yours close together in age?
