UPDATE: Haley just did it again. We were playing fetch and he took off with his ball and before I could get to him 100 feet away he rolled in new possum poop. "Leave it" and "No" had zero effect on him! Out came the leash and hose and I hosed the poop off again. It's going to be a long summer.
The other day I had Haley on the grooming table and I saw a pickup truck in the drive way. Took the noose off Haley and told him to "stay". I went out to see what was going on. It took about 10 to 15 minutes to take care of getting a neighbor's dog back to them. When I went back inside my good doodle was still sitting on the table waiting for me. I finished combing, ear cleaning and nails. Gave him a bath and dried him.
That afternoon Haley and I went outside for some fetch and weeding. While Haley was taking a break from fetch I started weeding and lost track of him. A little while later Haley was beside me and I kept thinking I smelled organic fertilizer. The odor was coming from my "good" doodle. He had decided he needed a little "perfume" and found a nice fresh pile of possum poop. His neck was black with poop! Why oh why do they have to roll in stinky things?

LOL - of course it has to be right after you bathe them to do things like that !!! I guess bath #2 is in order :)
Oh, no! Mr. Haley, don't you know that's only going to result in another bath? Not worth the pleasure of rolling in stink!
Thank God JD doesn't do this; my poodle did, though. Goose poop was her favorite.
A funny story about that: She ate every kind of food there is, even things you wouldn't think a dog would like, like Brussels sprouts. But one night, I gave her a piece of fish for the first time, the broiled salmon I was having for dinner. She took it out of her bowl, carried it over to the dining room rug, set it down, and rolled in it!!!!! That told me what she thought of fish, lol.
LOL Karen!
I would like to do that to fish as well ... I'm not a big fish person!
LOL!
I don't like fish, but I certainly wouldn't roll in it!! Guess that's 'cause I'm not a poodle!!
Ha Ha Ha, never ever let your card down on a freshly groomed doodle, lesson learned.
Vern rolls immediately after getting groomed. I think he is allergic to clean :) Poor Haley....time for another bath!!
I think I'll refrain from commenting as I don't wanna jinx anything at our house! However, we did have a toy poodle that loved to roll and any poo she could find! Nasty stuff, so I feel for you.
Luca was rolling in something in some grass on our walk yesterday. I didn't see anything but I am sure there was something stinky there. It luckily didn't end with him reeking.
