Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Okay, so we are getting ANOTHER goldendoodle. I never thought I would have 3 big dogs, but with 4 kids who all want to participate in 4H Dog projects, Charlotte's recent health scare, 2 recently adopted kids (a new pup will be as much theirs as everyones - not one more thing they just inherited), and a few other factors, well...here comes another pup.
I will be picking the pup up next week at 9 weeks old. She is a beautiful chocolate with blue eyes.
We have a bunch of names not available due to numerous extended family dogs, rescued dogs, alpacas, and horses. We like names with a southern or literary feel to them. Our current dogs are Charlotte and Webster (Webster's dictionary, Charlotte's Web).
Our short list is: Tessa, Ellie, Ivy, Shelby, Sophie, and Georgia. My husband and oldest (and newest) son are the picky ones - ugh. Hubby likes Magnolia (Maggie).
Any suggestions? What do you think about the names I mentioned? We have 6 people who need to agree and I'm going nuts not knowing her name!!!

Marnie, I love all your suggestions for names! If we ever (fingers & paws crossed) get another Doodle we will name her Petunia! Love, love love that name!
I had pet rats names Petunia and Marigold!
You and I think alike - lol. My top names were Lily and Willow (similar to Willa) but my mom's dog is Lindy and my husband thinks they are too similar sounding (we all get together with the dogs sometimes). Hubby does NOT like Willow. Can't have Rose because our chicken (another story altogether!) is Rosie. Savannah was considered (a favorite of hubby) but I can't think of a nickname for Savannah.
To be genuinely Southern, I can also add "Sue" or "Ann"to any name: Bobbie Sue, Dorothy Ann, Billie Sue, Ruth Ann, Jennie Sue, etc :-)
Great names - let me know if you think of any others.
First let me say that she is Beautiful! Your kids are going to have so much fun. I so love the idea that you are partially doing this so the new kids will have something that really feels like theirs rather than something they inherited! What a big heart you guys have. Your house must just be a little bit crazy at times between kids and dogs etc. I love the names you are looking at. Tessa was on my short list when I was looking at names for AnnaBelle! I always wanted an Ellie but my brother has one. Sophie will always be near and dear to my heart. Other names I had on my short list (like you need any more) were Beatrice (from Peter Rabbit and also mike had a favorite Aunt Bea). I would have called her Aunt Bea. I also considered Eleanor and Raleigh (as Mike is from Raleigh). Loving southern names though you can't have a list without considering Scarlett (from Gone With The Wind) lol! You'll figure it out! Can't wait for more pictures.
Beatrice and Aunt Bea....OOOOOO love!
Beatrice is adorable Sheri!
Actually I would go with Scarlett but Scarlett and Charlotte are TOO similar (it's hard enough with Charlotte and Charlie - my sister's dog). I do like Beatrice - I will add it to the list. Princess Beatrice, Aunt Bea from Mayberry - hey! what about the name Mayberry and May for short....hmmmm....
As far as the kids, our new 12 yr old son was going to go in the woods with his brother to catch a spider. He was going to keep it in a box so he could have his own pet. Fortunately, they came up with this plan the week before his birthday. For his birthday, I took him and let him pick out a betta fish - my thought is that a fish is better than a spider :-)
Doodle is definitely better than Spider ... lol! I like Mayberry! And of course there is always Andy (Andi for a girl) from Mayberry too!
I like Magnolia and Georgia...and what about Ruby or Savannah or maybe Dolly...as in Parton. Can't get much more southern than that LOL
My mom had a friend who had a yellow lab named Wynonna!
Whatever her name she is a beauty!!
I love Ruby
